Free Safety Tip!
Here's a public service announcement to those cooking at sea! Each year, many boaters are severely injured by hot spills and airborne liquids in the galley - Murphy's Law states that a rogue wave will strike just as you're draining hot pasta water or pouring coffee. We highly recommend keeping the galley safe with a RUBBER apron like the ones used by restaurant dishwashers!
Contact your local restaurant supply store - they sell for only $12-15. It's a tiny investment to prevent serious scaldings! |
Make Corrosion walk the plank!
So many boaters suffered from corrosion in 2010 that we're calling it "Year of the Rust"! It might not be the sexiest topic under the sun, but we highly recommend brushing up on your corrosion knowledge by browsing these 3 articles: When two dissimilar metals are in contact, one can quickly disintegrate. This action is called Galvanic Corrosion and by adding a stray electrical current it could sink your boat! Read more on our Galvanic Isolation page.
An anode is that donut-shaped hunk on your prop shaft, or that metal teardrop bolted to your hull. How does it prevent underwater corrosion? Why should a freshwater boater never use zinc anodes?! Learn more on our Anodes page.
What about decorative metal - how can stainless steel have rust spots? How can a bronze ship's bell become tarnished and corroded? Learn about protecting your precious boat bits on our Metal Cleaners page. |

Dealing with today's new Ethanol-blended fuels
Due to new fuel regulations, we are seeing new fuel blends at our local filling stations; Ethanol, an alcohol derived from plant sources (usually corn), can cause serious performance issues when used in marine applications. Learn about it on our Starbrite Star Tron page. |
That's all for now! Remember, our web site is www.pridemarine.com, but you can drop by the store or give us a ring toll-free at 1-888-732-8883!
Happy New Year!
