New Gear Alert for Racers: Velocitek ProStart!
On October 25th, Velocitek announced their new ProStart digital compass/knotmeter ( our Facebook/Twitter followers already knew this)! They call it their best distance-to-line tool ever. It's extremely easy to set the positions of the start line, then just press "Gun" when the RC fires the warning. Be sure to check out the demo at the bottom of the page (complete with overly dramatic music!) |
Know your Knots: The Octopus Coil
Just in case you've got a bad case of the kinks, there's another way to coil your ropes and avoid twists and knots. Try the Octopus! Get your cockpit more organized with a coil that won't get caught in your clutches and cleats. Hang your Octopus Coils with some rope tidis, and you'll be in Bristol fashion! Learn the Octopus Coil here. |
..As visions of Laser and Optimist parts danced in their heads...
We are excited to announce we are now a dealer of Optiparts - a competitively-priced line of parts for Laser and Optimist dinghies! We have already set up a few Laser parts and Optimist parts already!
Can't find the part you're looking for? Check out the Optiparts catalog and price list on our Price Lists page.
A cool part for Opti/Laser sailors is the Praddel - a single-handed paddle which allows you to paddle with one hand while the other hand is free for the tiller or mainsheet.. even Santa uses one when the reindeer get tired! |

The Stern!
Kingston sailors: Do you have an old spinnaker ready for retirement? The Kingston Grand Theatre's main annual fundraising night, the "Red Carpet Gala", is hoping for donations of old sails and spinnakers to be cut up and used in their interior decoration. Contact event coordinator marleen.trotter@gmail.com for details!
Also, the "Jug Method" was a big hit from last month's newsletter, but a small adjustment has been recommended; instead of tying slings from jug to jug, consider tying slings from each jug to the cradle to prevent the tarp from sliding off your boat! For a recap on the Jug Method, click here. |
