Greetings!

Seven years have flown by since TRSP incorporated as a nonprofit in May 2009. Many thanks to all the Reiki professionals who have contributed their time and talent to the success of TRSP. We have had the pleasure of sharing the gift of Reiki and serving people in so many settings. Read on for a summary of our activities this past year...

Reiki For You Classes

Teaching Reiki class has been a joyful experience for TRSP Reiki Master Teachers over the years. Students often come to class with limited knowledge or understanding about Reiki. By the end of the day, they discover that they have the ability to offer Reiki to themselves as well as others. It can be a transformative experience for many. In the past year, TRSP has taught Level I classes for participants at Wellness House (www.wellnesshouse.org) and for Elmhurst Memorial Hospitals' nursing staff.
Reiki in the Community

In February, TRSP attended the annual Integrate Chicago conference hosted by Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Healthcare students have the opportunity to learn about the many aspects of integrative medicine. Ten Reiki Practitioners spent the day offering short Reiki sessions to 76 attendees many of whom experienced Reiki for the first time. They were often amazed in describing relaxation, stress release, pain relief, and visualization of colors. It was a successful and empowering day--teaching the next generation of healthcare providers about the benefits of Reiki.

Reiki Volunteers

In 2012, a Reiki Volunteer Program was started in the outpatient cancer center of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital with one Reiki practitioner. Four years later, our program has grown to 6 Reiki volunteers with more applicants interested in joining our team! To date, we have offered over 660 Reiki sessions to patients receiving treatment for cancer, their family members, and hospital staff. Recipients consistently report a lessening of pain and discomfort as well as feelings of relaxation and stress release. In April, we began offering Reiki to inpatients on the oncology unit and our hope is to eventually move into other areas of the hospital.

Reiki for Families

What could be better than teaching Reiki to children and their parents? In April, two amazing families came together for Reiki class. We had 4 parents, 5 children, and 4 Reiki Master Teachers--it was a wonderfully busy, high energy day! By the end of class, our "students" were all confidently sharing "hands-on" Reiki with each other.
The children were especially adept at working with Reiki.
Practicing Reiki is now becoming a regular part of their daily family life.  It was privilege  to watch these families share this new experience this each other.

Our Reiki work continues! Recognition and appreciation for our practice is growing every day. If you have any thoughts or questions, please contact us at the email below.
