CAPE COD WHITE RIBBON DAY
Independence House, in collaboration with the Yarmouth Police Department and the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office will be holding its annual Cape Cod White Ribbon Day Ceremony on Thursday, March 3, 2016.

Independence House is awarded grant for "Game Change" Partnership with New England Patriots
A formal announcement was made by Attorney General Maura Healy's office just days before Christmas that Independence House, Inc., based in Hyannis, MA has been named as one of six domestic violence and sexual assault prevention organizations to receive part of over $250,000 in grant funding to partner with, and provide support to schools participating in "Game Change: The Patriots Anti-Violence Partnership".  Read full press release.
"We Are The Change" Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month Event
Please join Independence House for an event that will bring high school students together for a contest that will provoke critical thinking about healthy relationships, acceptance, equality, respect and anti-violence. 
Art submissions from high school students across Cape Cod will be on display from this year's art contest themed "WE ARE THE CHANGE". 

Special presentations from the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) groups of Falmouth, Barnstable, Dennis-Yarmouth Regional and Cape Cod Regional Technical High Schools will take place as well as important topic related guest speakers and an awards presentation.  

Sponsorships are available.  The event will take place on February 24th at the Doubletree by Hilton in Hyannis.

ONE BILLION RISING EVENT TO BE HELD IN YARMOUTH ON FEBRUARY 12
One Billion Rising is an action campaign aimed at women and girls to express their outrage, to rise up and to dance in an effort of awareness to end violence against women worldwide.

Please join Independence House, in collaboration with, and located at the Yarmouth Senior Center on February 12, 2016 at 1:00pm.

The Clothesline Project will be on display with an opportunity for attendees to paint their own shirt to take home or add to the display. Guest speakers,  refreshments, and YES------ We Will Dance!

Share Your Love in February with Solstice for Independence House
Award winning Solstice Day Spa is gearing up for their 6th annual "Share the Love" event throughout the month of February.

The extremely talented and caring spa team at Solstice Day Spa donates their time, products and services as part of a raffle that helps Independence House provide free and confidential services to children, teens and adults on Cape Cod who have been affected by domestic or sexual violence

Raffle tickets are $10 through the month of February to win numerous spa and beauty services. Visit Solstice Day Spa at 408 Main Street, Hyannis at the lower level of Puritan Cape Cod.
Bicycle Face performance to benefit Independence House and WE CAN.

You won't want to miss this one-woman show, written and performed by Hannah Van Sciver, with direction by David O'Connor and design by Sara Outing. 

Set in Philadelphia and framed by a feminist theory class taught in the year 2125, Bicycle Face tells the interconnected stories of three fictional women, separated by a century each, navigating the changing landscape of feminism, censorship and cycling.

Bicycle Face is taking place on February 25th and 26th at 7:00pm at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Road, Cotuit.  Tickets: $10 pre-purchased and $15 at the door.

Cape Cod Trail Race: Run Forward, Give Back

Independence House has been selected as one of the charity beneficiaries of the 2016 Cape Cod Trail Race: Run Forward, Give Back, presented by the Falmouth Track Club.

The race offers a 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, and 50K taking place on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Frances A. Crane Wildlife Management Area, on 754 Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) in East Falmouth.
