School Supplies Made Easy!

The DES PTO is offering you an easy way to order school supplies for the 2016-2017 school year.
To start, go to the following website and put in our school code to find supply lists and pricing for every grade (remember to choose the grade your child will start in the fall).
You must order before the end of the school year on May 27.
The supplies will be sent to your home the week of July 24.
Our school code is 74509
*Shipping IS included in the price listed, so there are no surprises at checkout.
**Please note that there are slight differences in pricing for girls and boys for some grades. Their lists include a few different items for the classroom. For example, the list for 1st-grade boys includes antibacterial soap. For 1st-grade girls, the list includes hand sanitizer.
***5th grade families - the three reading books that your child needs for Social Studies and Language Arts are not included and you will need to purchase separately.
If you have any questions, please contact Janet Ziffer.

The Tiger's D.E.N.

The 2nd issue of the Tiger's D.E.N. is now available on the Dunwoody Elementary School website.

Please take a moment to read what is happening at school from a student's perspective.

News From the Media Center

The Media Center website has recently been updated. You can now go under ABC's of Destiny to find directions on how to use Destiny for student research (much safer than just "Googling it"), lexile information has it's own tab, and a list of Ms. Gurin's Recommended Mystery Reader Read Alouds is now included!

As always, you can also find information on the following:
  • Signing Up for a Public Library Card
  • Reading Level Correlation Chart
  • Georgia Chapter Book Award Nominees (Reading Bowl Books)
  • Cybersafety
  • DCSD Summer Reading Author Recommendations
Go to: www.dunwoodyelementary.com > Media Center (tab on the left side)
Wake Up to a Simpler School Day

Parents, save time on busy weekday mornings and choose school breakfast!

Did you know?
  • School breakfast offers fresh fruit daily, whole grains, fat free or low fat milk, it's also low in calories, fat, and sodium.
  • It is healthy and convenient, plus it is less than $2 per meal.

Parents help me to help your mornings start easier.  Let's encourage our students to Wake Up to School Breakfast.

Stop by the 'ice dream' table to visit with our Pre-K, Discovery, IEP, and ESOL teachers who will be serving.

DES Dads, please come to our All Pro Dad Breakfast this month.
Friday, April 15 - 6:45 to 7:45am.
Please arrive for breakfast in the cafeteria (6:45 - 7:15am)
Program will begin in the media center at 7:20.
This month's topic is "When We Mess Up"
All Pro Dad Dad's Day is a simple idea with a profound impact. It's a one-hour monthly breakfast held before school where fathers and their children meet with other dads and kids in the school cafeteria. During this time, we will discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together, create fun memories, and leave equipped with resources to strengthen your relationship with your child.
The program is fun and free! All you need to do is attend, and if you want to purchase breakfast, you may do so in the cafeteria by using your child's myschoolbucks account, cash or check ($1.65 adults, $1.20 children). If you do not have a myschoolbucks account, please register for one at MySchoolBucks.com before the meeting.
To help with keeping the parking lot and carpool drop off running smoothly, please park at GA Perimeter College and walk over to school.
Please visit our chapter website for dates and more information.
