Greetings!
THANK YOU to all the morning carpool parents who have learned and followed the traffic plan! According to my staff and many parents, the morning runs much smoother and the safety of our students is greatly improved! There are only a few car drivers who want to break the rules. Please keep in mind that the law prohibits any person form disrupting the safe and orderly running of a school. Failure to follow rules and regulations can result in a "No Trespassing Letter" that is enforced by the Dunwoody Police. Next week is our Principal's Coffee, and I hope you will be able to join us. Our Georgia Milestone scores are scheduled for release and, if possible, we will share the early results. At this time, I do not have those reports, but when they are available, I will share them via Tiger Talk and TIP. Our main topic for the Principal's Coffee will be our STEM Engineering Design Process. Learn what your children are learning and spend a little time having some fun!! Attendees will participate in an actual design build! You will quickly learn why your children love STEM and how engineering is an important part of developing a critical mind. The Principal's Coffee will be Wednesday, November 18 at 7:45 AM.

From the PTO Co-Presidents
STEM Career day is tomorrow!
On Monday, November 16th, we will have our STEM Career Day. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who are participating in our STEM Career Day! Each classroom will have at least one presenter to discuss their STEM related career. Thank you to our STEM coordinator, Jen Lieb for compiling a list of all our parents with careers in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Thank you to everyone that attended our Chick-fil-A spirit night. We had a great turnout with both families and staff participating. In addition, thank you to Amanda Becker and Jordan Winters, our Family Events Committee Chairs, for organizing all of our Spirit Nights.
LOST AND FOUND - DONATIONS TWICE PER MONTH FOR UNCLAIMED ITEMS!
Please make sure that your child remembers to check lost and found for any items that they may misplace during the day. We are donating lost and found items more frequently. All unclaimed lost and found items will now be donated on the 1st and 15th of every month. Making sure that your child's clothing is labeled will help us expedite returns!
DES STEM Shirts
With some grades recently enjoying entertaining, educational field trips, thanks for sending your children in either their DES STEM shirt or a navy shirt! Both teachers and parent volunteers indicated how helpful the uniformity was in keeping the children together!
Morning Carpool
Thank you for making an effort to abide by the recently updated morning carpool procedures! Your adherence to these policies not only helps expedite carpool, it also keeps children safe!
Thanks,

Morning Traffic Procedure
Parents,
A primary concern at Dunwoody Elementary is the safety and well-being of all students. With this in mind, we have particularly focused our attention on morning bus arrival and carpool. We have worked with DeKalb County Schools Transportation Department and the Dunwoody Police Department to make changes to our existing procedure so that student safety is maximized. On Friday, November 6, we will begin to enforce the new plan with the assistance of Dunwoody Police.
You will receive repeated notifications of our new process through email, newsletters, and TIP for the next two weeks. Please pay close attention to all procedures.
Changes to our morning procedure include the following:
- Only buses and employees my use the smaller lot entrance until 7:15am each morning.
- Vehicle traffic may not ever pass a loading or unloading bus no matter the location on the school campus.
- Students may only be unloaded from vehicles in the drop-off zone on each side of the awning (along the curb where there is staff or patrol assistance).
- Vehicles must move as far down the drop-off zone as possible before unloading.
- Parents walking students into the building must be parked in a designated parking spot unless otherwise directed by a staff member.
- Vehicles must stay in line and not pass other cars throughout the entire drop-off to exit process. The traffic flow map is shown below.
- Drivers using the smaller lot for drop-off must be willing to turn right onto Womack - no left turn allowed.
- Drivers must remain in the car when using the drop-off zone. If a child requires extra assistance to unload, the driver must park in a parking space to assist.
- Drivers must refrain from using cell phones while driving on school property.
- Pedestrian traffic must utilize the crosswalks to cross the carpool line.

6:45 to 7:45am
Please arrive for breakfast in the cafeteria (6:45 - 7:15am)
Program will begin in the media center at 7:20.
This month's topic is "Being Thankful"
"All Pro Dad is a simple idea with a profound impact. It's a one-
hour monthly breakfast held before school where fathers and their
children meet with other dads and kids in the school cafeteria.
During this time, we will discuss a wide range of family topics,
spend time together, create fun memories, and leave equipped
with resources to strengthen your relationship with your child."
The program is fun and free! All you need to do is attend, and if you want to purchase breakfast, you may do so in the cafeteria by using your child's "My School Bucks" account, cash or check ($1.65 adults, $1.20 children). If you do not have a "My School Bucks" account, please register for one at www.myschoolbucks.com before the meeting.
To help with keeping the parking lot and carpool drop off running smoothly, please park at GA Perimeter College and walk over to school.
