ANNOUNCEMENTS

From Our Principal

Greetings!
We have received word that Spring 2015 GA Milestones testing reports should be arriving in mid-late November. However, I wanted to go ahead and share a sample score report with you so that you can see the scoring categories and all of the information you can expect to receive when the scores come out. http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Assessment/Documents/Milestones/EOG%20Resources/GA-EOG-ISR-92315.pdf

When the scores do arrive, we will offer information on how to interpret the results. On behalf of the Georgia DOE, we thank you for your patience as we await building and individual scores at Dunwoody Elementary.

Principal, Dunwoody Elementary
From the PTO Co-Presidents

Don't forget that Picture Make-up day is Tuesday, October 27!

Do you have any pictures from your child's classroom or school events? It's now easier than ever to upload those photos.
Send them to: yearbookdes@gmail.com. You can even upload from your mobile device. Help make this year's Yearbook a success!

We cleaned out our pantries and made a difference! Thank you to all of our DES families who donated cans to the Atlanta Food Bank Canned Food Drive. The cans will be picked up this week, and we will bring you an update on how many pounds of food we donated once we have that information. Thank you again for helping feed Atlanta's hungry families.

Thanks,
DES Academic Bowl Team

Attention parents of fifth graders! Does your DES Tiger love facts?
Do you call your student a walking encyclopedia? The DES Academic Bowl Team needs you!!

The Academic Bowl is a quiz bowl that challenges fifth graders to show their knowledge of trivia in academics and pop culture.

We will have weekly practices on Wednesday mornings at 7am and Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:45pm.

The Academic Bowl team will participate in the Dekalb County Schools Academic Bowl on December 12 at Stone Mountain Middle School. The first informational session will be held on Wednesday, October 21, in room 1318, Ms. St. John's room. There may be try-outs, depending on how many students are interested.

Sponsors are Ms. St. John, Mrs. Weimann, and Mrs. Nettles.

Drug Free Pledge
I pledge allegiance to myself and who I want to be,
Cause I can make my dreams come true, if I believe in me.
I pledge to stay in school and learn the things I need to know,
To make the world a better place for kids like me to grow.
I pledge to keep my dreams alive and be all that I can be.
