From the PTO Co-Presidents
We had a wonderful first week of school at DES! Students, thank you for bringing excitement and smiles back to school. Parents, thank you for your patience. Volunteers, thank you for your countless hours. Faculty and staff, thank you for all your hard work!
With the first week of school under our belts, we wanted to touch on a few points regarding safety and carpool.
Please refrain from using your cell phones in the carpool line. We have so many children entering the building during carpool and we want to ensure the safety of each and every one of our students.
NO LEFT TURN AFTER 7:30AM FROM THE EAST ENTRANCE. If you choose to enter the east carpool line after 7:30am, please do not turn left onto Womack Road. This will be a right turn only after 7:30am. If you wish to go left on Womack Road, you MUST utilize the west entrance/exit where our crossing guard is present. Signage will be posted immediately as a friendly reminder. We will request Dunwoody Police to help enforce this rule if necessary.
We'd like to thank all of the volunteers that helped with the first week of school. Parents helped walk children to classrooms, assisted with carpool and in the parking lot, set-up for the Welcome Back Coffee and assured our youngest children made it onto the correct bus at dismissal.
We have our first General PTO Membership meetings on Tuesday, August 18 (PreK-2nd), and Thursday, August 20 (3rd-5th), starting at 5:15pm in the cafeteria. If you are not a member and would like to have voting rights, you can still join by paying your PTO Dues at www.dunwoodypto.com.
See you around the school!

Setting up a Lunch Account
Parents!
To set up a lunch account for your child, please visit www.myschoolbucks.com. For prior DeKalb County students who had an account with mylunchmoney.com, you should find that your balance transferred! For new students, you can obtain a six digit number from your child's teacher to set up and add money to their account! Thank you!
|
Free and Reduced Meal Application Online
The site is easy to manage and much quicker than regular applications.
You may still get a hard copy application from our cafeteria manager, Cassie Battle.
|
Reminder about Lunch Visits
During August, everyone is learning new routines and procedures in school, and in the cafeteria. Parents are asked to wait until after Labor Day to visit for lunch.
Thanks!

Parent Needs Assessment
Welcome back! We hope you and your family had a wonderful summer break.
Now that we've returned, Dr. Childs and I are so excited for this new year of helping students achieve academic, personal, and social success! We've already started putting up some of the collegiate pennants donated by everone last school year - thanks again!
In order to best meet the needs of our students and your children, we are looking to you for feedback and collaboration. We've created a parent needs assessment in order to review and improve our program.
Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions in this survey. Your honest response to all questions will assist in the review of the School Counseling Program. All responses will be kept confidential and will be used to improve how the School Counseling Program helps our students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
Click on the following hyperlink, and it will take you to the assessment: Dunwoody ES Parent Needs Assessment.
Also, be sure to check out our counseling website to see what programs, guidance lessons, small groups, and activities we have planned this month! www.DunwoodyESCounseling.weebly.com
We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Ms. Gilbert School Counselor PreK-2nd Grades

How to Send an Announcement Using Tiger Talk
Tiger Talk is the weekly e-newsletter of the Dunwoody Elementary School PTO. Every Sunday, we publish information that is pertinent to the students and parents of DES.
The submission deadline for each issue is 10pm on Tuesday.
All announcements must be brief and sent in writing as an email to Dunwoody.TigerTalk@gmail.com. Announcements will run for two weeks prior to the event or as applicable. If you have any questions about Tiger Talk, please contact the editors at Dunwoody.TigerTalk@gmail.com.
