Announcements

From the PTO Co-Presidents

Registration Day Information:

The Fast Pass is Here! Register Early and pay the suggested Tiger Fund amount of $125 prior to Registration Day and receive a DES Fast Pass.

With a DES Fast Pass, parents are only required to stop at two stations: Proof of Residency and Transportation.

The DES Fast Pass allows parents to by-pass long lines, by moving to the front of the line, at both the Proof of Residency and Transportation stations. Click on the Register Now button for your DES Fast Pass, and register from the comfort of your home to avoid the lines! All parents will enter information electronically, either at home or on computers available on Registration Day.  Be sure to sign up for, or update, the Online School Directory as well.

New this year:

Instead of a field day shirt, payment of Annual Dues will provide your child with a new DES STEM shirt! It is strongly suggested per request of the teachers that this shirt, featuring the newly designed DES STEM logo, be worn on all field trips to help maintain the safety of the group! The t-shirts can also be worn on spirit days, field day, and anytime! You will be able to pick up your shirt at registration and enjoy it all year!

Registration Day is Wednesday, August 5,

7:30am-11:30am

What You Need:

  • Proof of Residency (save the next utility bill you get)
  • Photo Identification (original and photocopy)
  • Checkbook/Credit Card/Cash (for PTO Registration if you have not registered, Spirit Wear, and any after school clubs)

 Registration Day Volunteers Needed

Registration Day is Wednesday, August 5, from 7:30-11:30am. We need YOUR help to make the day a success!

  • Shift 1: 7:15 - 9:30am
  • Shift 2: 9:30 - 11:45am

If you volunteer for a full shift, you will receive your DES registration packet early.  Please consider volunteering for either one or both shifts. It really does take a lot of folks to make this process run smoothly. This is the time to call the neighbors for a play date for your kids, or you may bring them with you. We appreciate your assistance!

Let's make this a great year!

 Playground Improvements

While you have been relaxing this summer, Alison Woodrow and Amanda Rountree have been working diligently with Mr. Brake and John Plont and his team from Executive Backyards to ensure that the playground is in optimal condition for the 2015-2016 school year.

Their efforts have resulted in drainage remediation, the installation of a new concrete playpad, restructuring the border around the equipment, the addition of wood chips, and the installation of sod! These improvements will be enjoyed and appreciated by the DES community!

The sod around the playground was just installed this week and we ask that you please stay off the playground area for the next few weeks so it has time to take root.  The playground will be closed on Registration Day and we ask that you abide by that rule.

Thanks for your great work!

Join a New Developmental Team for 5th Graders

Serve, Set, Sweat, Success

Be part of the growing volleyball program in Dunwoody.  We are looking for 12-20 girls to create Peachtree Jrs Volleyball - a new developmental team for 5th graders.

No experience is necessary, just an interest in the game, a good attitude and a willingness to work with experienced club coaches. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the fundamentals of volleyball in a fun & mildly competitive environment.

  • Team dues are $225 per player.
  • Team practices are Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at Kingswood United Methodist Church gym.
  • Tryouts are Saturday, August 1, at the Dunwoody High School Gym from 1-2pm.  Pre-registration is required and players must bring a completed GHSA Physical Form (doctor visit required).
