From the PTO Co-Presidents

We have a busy week leading up to Spring Break!

On Tuesday, March 31st, Class Pictures will be taken.

Thursday, April 2nd is Kindergarten Round-up. This event is for kindergarten students who are zoned for DES next year. We will offer children and parents a sneak peek at our school and all we have to offer. Please remind your friends and neighbors with kindergarteners coming to DES next year about this wonderful event. Please see below for additional information and volunteer opportunities. In addition, a huge thank you to Celena Apple, for organizing Kindergarten Round-up.

Friday, April 3rd we have a Cultural Program for all students. The DeKalb School of the Arts will be performing Jazz/Musical numbers.

We will not have a Tiger Talk issue on Sunday, April 5th due to Spring Break. We will be back on April 12th, just in time to remind you about Milestone testing April 21-30.

Have a great week and enjoy your Spring Break!

Thank you!

Amanda Rountree and Jennifer Fenmore

Georgia Milestones Testing

As we prepare for testing season we wanted to make sure you had the most updated information regarding our new assessment, The Georgia Milestones.

Please review this information as well as visit websites to view the types of questions students will be expected to answer. Additionally, have your child practice the online sample test, as all students will eventually have to take the online version. The online test format will be phased in over the next few years.

Students in grades 3-5 will be assessed from April 21- April 30, 2015. Please be sure your child is at school, on-time, during testing to ensure that they can do their very best.
