Announcements

From Our Principal

Greetings!

I have received a few complaints about our carpool line in the mornings. From my assessment of the problem, the most issues are occurring between 7:40 and 7:45 AM when all staff members on duty go inside to get ready for the day to begin at 7:45 AM. The simplest solution for all parents is to be through the carpool line prior to 7:40 AM. All students really need the five minute window to transition to the classroom, unpack, and get settled for the day to begin. If you do happen to run later in the mornings, it is imperative that you follow the carpool rules and procedures throughout the arrival window. Please do not park along the curb.

Our morning carpool drop-off begins at 7:00 AM. All rules and procedures must be followed throughout the arrival window (7:00 - 7:45 AM) in order to keep all our students safe:

  1. Only drop-off your students along the designated curb near the front entrance of the building.
  2. Do not pull around other drivers in your haste - wait in line!
  3. Only park in a designated parking space to walk into the building. If you are walking your children into the building, please hold their hands in the parking lot and cross at designated cross walks.
  4. Pull as far up in the carpool lane as possible so that we maximize the number of cars that can release students at one time.
  5. If you use the shorter carpool line, we request that you turn right only when you exit the property. If you need to make a left turn, please use the longer carpool line.
  6. Move your car seats to the passenger side of the car so that children can safely exit the vehicle on the curb side.
  7. Refrain from using cell phones so that you can be attentive to all pedestrian traffic.

An effective, non-stressful carpool experience hinges on the adults being courteous and mindful of other drivers.

Thank you for your assistance and help in keeping our children safe.

Cultural Arts Dinner

Please join us at the school for our Cultural Arts Dinner on Thursday, February 12, from 6 to 8pm. It's a celebration of what makes Dunwoody Elementary School so special.

Families are invited to prepare their favorite dishes and those that reflect their unique backgrounds. You can bring your food items as early as 5:30pm to the school cafeteria. Please create a note card with the name of the dish to display in front. Drinks, plates, napkins and utensils will be provided by the PTO. You can sign up here:

Student performances will begin at 7pm and last for an hour. Please plan to stay to support our students.
