Safe Routes to School
Wednesday, October 8, 2014

New this Year, Wednesday October 8 - Safe Routes To School (SRTS)!  Students can participate in "Walking" School Bus and Carpool from 7-7:30am!  As kids exit from buses or carpool, they have the option to walk the route around the DES building and be counted as SRTS Participant! The class with the most participants will win the Golden Sneaker Award presented by Ms. Sanders!  Parents are also welcome to walk students in as done in the past - all students that participate are counted!

We need volunteers to welcome and direct students along the SRTS Route!  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b4ea5aa29aa8-october

SRTS encourages health and the well being of children as they walk and     bicycle to school. SRTS connects transportation options with the quality of children's health within the livability of our community.

No School Monday, October 13

 Chick-fil-A Spirit Night

Our next Spirit Night will be Tuesday, October 14, from 5-8pm at the Perimeter Pointe Chick-fil-A. Come hungry and invite your friends because 20% of all your sales (eat in or drive thru) go back to DES!

Just remember to say you are here for Spirit Night so we can be credited accordingly. Stop by the 'Ice Dream' table to get your free 'Ice Dream' from the 1st grade teachers!

Our next Chick-fil-A Spirit Night will be November 11th.

Box Tops for Education Deadline

The Fall deadline for Box Tops For Education is fast approaching!  Please have all collected Box Tops turned in by Friday, October 17th!

For every 50 Box Tops that are turned in, the student's name will be entered into a drawing for a gift card to the school store!  The class with the most Box Tops will be eligible for popsicles during recess!  Please put your Box Tops in a Ziploc bag, labeled with your student's name, grade, and homeroom teacher, and put it in the designated blue box in the foyer.  Each Box Top is worth 10 cents for DES!  And don't stop collecting! The next deadline will be in March.

Thanks!

DES Dads, please come to our All Pro Dad Breakfast this month.

 Friday, October 17 - 6:45 to 7:45am

Please arrive for breakfast in the cafeteria (6:45 - 7:15am)

Program will begin in the media center at 7:20.

This month's topic is "Acceptance"

All Pro Dad Dad's Day is a simple idea with a profound impact. It's a one-hour monthly breakfast held before school where fathers and their children meet with other dads and kids in the school cafeteria. During this time, we will discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together, create fun memories, and leave equipped with resources to strengthen your relationship with your child.

The program is fun and free! All you need to do is attend, and if you want to purchase breakfast, you may do so in the cafeteria by using your child's "mylunchmoney" account, cash or check ($1.65 adults, $1.20 children). If you do not have a "mylunchmoney" account, please register for one at www.mylunchmoney.com before the meeting.

To help with keeping the parking lot and carpool drop off running smoothly, please park at GA Perimeter College and walk over to school.

Please visit our chapter website for dates and more information.
