From the PTO Co-Presidents
Thank you to all of our families that made last week a huge success! We had over 80 children sign in on Grounds Day! Ms. Shelton's class had a blast helping Mrs. Sanders participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge, and all students will be able to watch as it was videotaped for WDES. Thank you to Tommy McNeese, Grounds Chair, and Dan Geist, Nature Trail Chair, for all of your hard work and organization of our best attended Grounds Day.
Our Scholastic Book Fair last week was extremely successful. Many thanks to our Book Fair chairs, Jennifer Seitz and Katie Frame, who organized this wonderful event. We also want to acknowledge the many volunteers, who spent their valuable free time helping our parents, teachers, and students shop. You are all wonderful and we thank you!
Thursday's Family Night was very different then in years past. However, we had a great turnout and children were excited to show off their classrooms and work to their parents. Thank you to Family Night chairs, Amanda Becker and Jordan Winters, for coordinating the evening.
Also, just a reminder that Yearbooks were not sold at Registration this year. For more information on how to order your Yearbook, please see the article below.

From Our School Nurse
Stay healthy Dunwoody! Hooray for Handwashing! With flu season around the corner, I encourage you to spend a fewminutes speaking with your child about the importance of hand washing. When to wash hands:
- Before and after meals,
- After restroom use,
- After coughing or sneezing into one's hands
How to wash hands:
- Use soap and water,
- Scrub every finger,
- Sing the happy birthday song twice to ensure an effective scrub time)
Keep it simple and remind them to remind friends!

Mandatory Volunteer Training
The State of Georgia Mandatory Reporting Law was revised expanding the listing of persons who are now categorized as mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. This list now includes anyone who volunteers in a school.
To ensure that all school volunteers are aware of the new responsibilities and penalties associated with non-compliance, ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW to go through a brief training presentation created by DeKalb County Schools on the mandatory reporting of abuse and neglect and what it means to be a mandated reporter.
The training MUST be completed before volunteering. You must also complete the certificate affirming that you have watched the video presentation and understand your obligations as a mandated reporter.
Both the presentation and certificate can be accessed on the DES Website - Parent Resources section. The site has been updated with the link to the video.
Volunteers must complete this training every year.
If you have any questions regarding the presentation or your obligations as a reporter, please contact the school's social worker. School Social Worker - Isaura Roque Phone: 678-676-7135
