Registration Day
Wednesday, August 6, 2014
7:30am to 12:30pm
All NEW and RETURNING families need to attend

Thank you to all the families that have pre-registered and received their DES Fast Pass! We are off to a great start! Please remember that to receive your DES Fast Pass you must pay the Tiger Fund suggested donation of $125 or enroll in the 6-month installment plan.  If you have not received your DES Fast Pass please visit dunwoodypto.com to register. To those families that received the DES Fast Pass, PTO greeters will meet you on Registration Day, so there is no need to bring a copy of your DES Fast Pass receipt.  Please remember that in order to receive the DES Fast Pass you must pre-register your child AND pay the minimum recommended Tiger Fund donation amount of $125. If you do not complete BOTH of these steps, parents will have to complete the registration process again.

On Registration Day, you will do the following:
  • Provide Proof of Residency
  • Complete PTO Registration information if you did not receive the DES Fast Pass (can pay by PayPal, credit, cash or check)
  • Obtain a carpool number and bus route information
  • Discuss your child's medical needs with the nurse, if needed
  • Learn about mylunchmoney.com and the free and reduced lunch program, if needed
  • Listen to PTO volunteer opportunities
  • Purchase Spirit Wear (Bring cash, check or credit card for purchases)
  • Find out your child's classroom assignment and meet your teacher!
  • Fill out paperwork in the classroom (Register for the MySchoolAnywhere Directory, DES Registration, Clinic and Dismissal Cards)
  • Find out about clubs and after-school activities at DES
  • Pay for recorders in 3rd grade hallway (3rd graders only)

Registration Day will be quite a bit different this year and we ask for your patience as we work out any potential issues that may arise. Our overall goal is to is to make Registration Day more enjoyable for parents, students, volunteers, faculty and staff.

Studies show that chess improves math, reading and problem-solving and our methods connect these academic benefits to our classes. Classes include instruction as well as chess play and guided analysis.

Coach Steve Schneider has been a teacher and chess coach for over 25 years. Championship Chess teams have won local, regional, state and national tournaments. Coaches utilize the Championship Chess curriculum introducing, reinforcing and improving chess skills and strategies in the opening, middle and end game.
