From the PTO Co-Presidents
As the first semester ends, we would like to once again thank all of our parent volunteers for giving your time and your talents to help make Dunwoody Elementary School a wonderful place! We had a wonderful last week of school in December, with musical performances by our Dunwoody Singers, Band and Strings, along with two days of spoiling our teachers and staff with sweet treats! We rounded out the week with a Friday Filled Fun Day, starting with All Pro Dad, followed by our Cultural Arts assemblies, ending the day with our fantastic holiday class parties! It was a busy week indeed, and I know we are all looking forward to a little extra rest and some quality time with our families.
We hope that you all have a very happy holiday break and we will see you again on January 7, 2014!
Warmest Wishes,
Amy & Amanda

Dunwoody Elementary Goes on Safari!
Dunwoody Elementary School students go on safari! Elaine Mach, second grade teacher at Dunwoody Elementary, did her annual Endangered Species project with her second graders. The classroom was packed full of parents and other family members to view the students' presentations. Mrs. Mach baked a cake shaped like an endangered animal to serve to the guests.

DES STEM Day
Dunwoody Elementary School participated in another STEM Day this past week. STEM (which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) involves hands-on activities that encourage students to problem solve. Many parent volunteers participate on STEM Days, assisting with activities or sharing their careers. In the photos, Karly Drennan's kindergarten students design and redesign bird feeders and test them out to see if they work.
