From the PTO Co-Presidents
Let us be the first to say Welcome Back to DES in 2014!!! Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow and all students return on Tuesday, January 7th.
Inclement Weather: Layer-Up and Label Everything!
Please remember to listen to AM750 or your local news and weather stations to get the latest on weather related school closings. Since we are expecting colder than normal temperatures, we encourage you to bundle up your children! The forecast calls for extremely cold temperatures on Tuesday, and we want our children to be safe, happy, and warm. Please make sure you label all clothing and outerwear with their names so that any lost items may be returned to your child's homeroom teacher.
Visiting Author Carmen Deedy to Visit on Thursday and Friday!
For all of those parents who pre-ordered books from Carmen Deedy, those books will be autographed by Carmen upon her visit on Thursday and Friday, January 9th and 10th. Carmen likes to autograph her books in the presence of her readers and will accommodate time for that during her visit. All pre-ordered books will be delivered to homerooms on Wednesday, January 8th. We will instruct teachers to give the books to their students on their respective visiting author day. If you did not order prior to the holiday break and you are still interested in ordering one of her books, please email Amy LeVasseur- PTO Co-President for details at amylevasseur@gmail.com.
No Walk to School Days in January or February!
Just as a quick reminder, due to the very cold weather during the winter months, we will not have Walk to School Days in January or February. We return to our monthly walks in March, just in time for Georgia Walk to School day.
Happy New Year!
