Announcements

From the PTO Co-Presidents

As we come off of a fabulous holiday week, please remember to bundle your little ones up in the morning before sending them off to the bus stop or through carpool.  Also please make sure to label your child's outerwear with their name so that, if lost, those items may be promptly returned to their homeroom teacher.

Lost and Found - New Process!
We will be donating unclaimed Lost and Found items every two weeks, on the 1st and 15th of every month.  We have new processes in place to only donate items that have been unclaimed for two weeks, so you need not worry that your child's items will be donated unless they have been sitting for at least two weeks.

These Shoes Were Made for Walking!
Pull out those walking shoes, it's that time again!  Walk to School Day is this Wednesday, December 4th.  The highly coveted Golden Shoe award will be up for grabs again, so make sure your student is counted!

Ali's Cookies Spirit Day!
Ali's Cookies is opening their doors once again to DES, offering a Spirit Day on Sunday, December 8th!  While you are out doing your holiday shopping, stop in and place your cookie or cake orders for holiday parties and those orders will count towards our Spirit Day totals!  Ali's will personalize your cookie cake with a photo, school or business logo or with handmade chocolate!  Don't miss this fun and exciting Spirit Day!

Classroom Holiday Parties
You should be receiving information through your Room Parents soon regarding the guidelines for Classroom Holiday Parties.  Please remember that we have many classrooms that are nut-free or gluten free due to student allergies, so please make sure to follow the food guidelines for your classroom.  There are parent volunteers who are designated to bring in food items, so please check with your room parents prior to sending anything in.

See you around school,

Upcoming Events

Holiday Party Information

Parents:  All holiday parties will be held on Friday, December 20 from 1:15-2pm. There is a limit to the number of parents per classroom so please check with your room parents and/or teacher if you wish to be a part of this celebration. We ask that all parent volunteers park their cars at Georgia Perimeter College for this event. Thanks!

Some notes about the parties:

  • Parties begin no earlier than 1:15pm.  Parents will be admitted to the classrooms no earlier than 1:00pm to set-up. Parties must end at 2:00pm so that students can be ready for dismissal. Visitors are asked to leave the campus by 2:15pm so that we can provide a safe, orderly dismissal process for our students.
  • Parent helpers/room parents/volunteers should be limited to 4 adults per classroom. More than 4 parents per classroom gets to be too crowded for our students.
  • Outdoor activities are fine, but space can not be guaranteed. No water related activities.
  • Parking is available at GA Perimeter College. Please avoid parking in the bus lanes (along the curb). Our buses arrive on campus by 1:30pm and need space to drive/park.
  • Carts will be available on the curb closest to the flagpole for those who wish to drop off items curbside prior to parking at Perimeter College.

Tiger Fund Challenge Update

The current standings for the Tiger Fund Challenge are in! In 1st place with 79% of families participating is Ms. Bass' 2nd grade class; Shelton, Johnson and Panullo are tied for 2nd; and Ms. Goodman's 4th Grade class is in 3rd place. The winning classroom will receive a free party at the Sandy Springs Funhouse!

The Tiger Fund helps pay for so many great programs at the school for our children but we have only collected $38,000 of our $60,000 goal. Without these funds we are unable to fund programs like STEM Curriculum, Cultural Arts, Drug Awareness, Field Day and many more!

The deadline for the Challenge has been extended to December 13, so there is still time to contribute and make your donation count! You may drop your donation marked Tiger Fund in the PTO Mailbox in the lobby or donate online HERE.

Thank you for your participation!
