From the PTO Co-Presidents

We are Thankful!
As we head into the holiday season, we want to stop and say thank you to all of our parent volunteers who have given their time and talents to make DES such a great place. From our Room Parents to our carpool volunteers, we are thrilled to have so many wonderful parents who volunteer every day!

We would especially like to thank our Staff Appreciation Committee Co-Chairs, Kim Rivera and Terica Harleaux for arranging a Thanksgiving Feast for our faculty and staff on November 21st.  Thank you to the kindergarten and first grade parents for making sweet treats for the feast!

We hope all of our DES families enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.
With warm wishes,

Amy LeVasseur & Amanda Rountree

Georgia Natural Gas

Most of us already pay for natural gas. Why not choose Georgia Natural Gas - the gas provider that provides a program which directly benefits you and our school!  It's simple, easy and provides significant funds for our school with very little effort.  GNG will give $5 to DES for each month the participant remains an active GNG customer.

Just visit TrueBlueSchools.com to get started.  Remember, anyone can participate, not just existing GNG customers, and the more people who sign up and select Dunwoody Elementary, the more money our school earns!!!  For more information contact: communitybusinesssupport@dunwoodypto.com.

Dunwoody Singers Participate in the DeKalb County Honor Chorus

On Friday and Saturday, November 15th and 16th, four of our Dunwoody Singers participated in the DeKalb County Elementary Honor Chorus (EHC). This is an annual, two day event sponsored by the Choral Music Department.

Sanaa Echoles, Ritesh Manugula, Tejiri Ogufere, and Anna Grace Rogers, along with other selected DeKalb County choral students, had the opportunity to rehearse 8 choral pieces under the direction of the nationally recognized choral director and composer Richard McKee.  After two days of rehearsal, students performed for family, friends, and DeKalb County administration in attendance.

Congratulations to Sanaa Echoles, Ritesh Manugula, Tejiri Ogufere, and Anna Grace Rogers on a wonderful performance!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Ask the students at Dunwoody Elementary School!!!

Students at Dunwoody Elementary harvested a variety of vegetables in the garden at the school.  Lettuce, broccoli, and radishes were among some of the crop. Fourth grade teachers Carla Nugent, Francine Goodman, Adrienne Thornton, Lashonda Nelson, and James Unger hosted a salad bar for the teachers. Students were also allowed to sample the vegetables in each classroom. Pictured in front of the salad bar are 4th grade students from Mrs, Nugent's class (left to right): Sam Woodrow, Mia Arrigali, Neal Yates, Ethan Archibald, Grace Myers, and Azeezat Bello.
