From the PTO Co-Presidents
As we enter April, we would like to take a moment to thank all of our volunteers and committee chairs for all their hard work for our big events in March. A big thank you to Maria Jacobs, Family Events Chair for planning not only our fabulous STEM night but also our Spring Family Dinner and Movie night. Both events were well attended and gave our students an opportunity to learn and have fun. Also, a great big thank you to our Book Fair Committee Chairs and volunteers Katie Frame and Jennifer Seitz for all their hard work and preparation of our very successful Spring book fair! We had a great turn out all week! It is impossible for us to offer all of the wonderful events to our children without the tireless efforts of our fabulous volunteers, so from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for everything you do to make DES an amazing place to be! We have a busy week leading up to Spring break starting on Tuesday with our Tiger Cub Round-up for kindergarten students who are zoned for our school next year. We will offer children and parents a sneak peek at our school and all we have to offer. Please remind your friends and neighbors that have kindergarteners coming to DES next year to attend this event.Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!!! Everyone wins at our Chick-fil-A spirit night on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00pm. Take the night off from cooking, enjoy a family meal out and support our school too! A portion of the profits for the evening goes right back to DES! Wednesday is Walk to School day so lace up those shoes and join us outside for a wonderful brisk morning walk. Finally, we would like to send our congratulations and best wishes to our wonderful Principal, Mrs. Jennifer Sanders who welcomed her son Henry this weekend and will be leaving for maternity leave after this week. Henry was born Saturday morning and both mom and baby are doing well. We wish you and your family all the best this Spring and Summer as you embark on a new journey with your precious little one and we look forward to seeing you again once school starts back in August! Thank you Ms. Sanders for being such a wonderful leader and inspiration to our students. You will be missed! We will not have a Tiger Talk issue on April 7th due to Spring Break but we will be back with you on April 14th just in time to remind you about our CRCT testing going on from April 16-19. Have a great week and enjoy your Spring Break! Amy LeVasseur and Shari Wassell PTO Co-Presidents amylevasseur@gmail.comshariwassell@gmail.com |
Raffle Winners
The STEM Night raffle prize, one week at Imagine That Science Camp, was never claimed, so the Family Events Committee had a second drawing during Spring Fling. Congratulations to Amy Hatmaker and family. The Hatmakers won the prize valued at $300 and will get to enjoy a great week of camp! |
PICTURE ORDERS!
Please remember to turn in your order forms for class photos to your child's homeroom teacher or put them in the blue PTO mailbox. If you turn them in before Spring Break, there will not be a late charge. If you have any questions, please contact carchibald@comcast.net. Thank you!! |
Camp Information
TigerTalk receives many requests for camp announcements in our community this time of year, so we have created a page on the DES PTO Website dedicated entirely to all the great camp options available for our children this summer. This page will be updated regularly throughout the spring, so check back often!

Chairs 4 Charity
Before you clear out your house for spring cleaning, consider donating any small tables or chairs to the art room! Mrs. Fleury-Bell & her photography club are looking for gently used chairs and small tables to paint for the 4th annual Chairs 4 Charity. The Chairs 4 Charity booth is sponsored by the Dunwoody Rotary Club. The chairs will be auctioned off at the Dunwoody Arts Festival, in the heart of Dunwoody on May 11th & 12th, 2013. Dunwoody has an enhanced 9-1-1 service called Smart911 available for free to all residents. The Chattahoochee River 9-1-1 Authority is encouraging all citizens to create a Safety Profile at www.smart911.com, and provide 9-1-1 with the information they need to assist you in the event of an emergency. A profile can include as much or as little information as you want, such as:
-
Members of your family and any medical conditions, medications or allergies -
Mobile phone numbers tied to home or work addresses -
Your emergency contacts, vehicle information and even pets
Smart911 is 100% private and secure. The only time a profile is seen is when you call 9-1-1. The profile immediately displays to call takers, which allows first responders to assist you faster and more effectively. Create you profile today at www.smart911.com. More details can be found on the DES PTO Website. |
