DES Staff Kickball Tournament
Wednesday, November 14 at 3:00 p.m.
Dunwoody High School softball field
Come out and cheer on your teachers as they compete against each other by grade in a Kickball challenge. The prize is a "dress-down" week following Thanksgiving and "on-time" dismissal for the teachers on the winning team (no late nights for these teachers!) All DES families are welcome to come out and cheer for their favorite team.
See you at the field! |
This Thursday, November 15 is America Recycles Day!
We will be doing our part at DES this year by recycling batteries, cell phones and shoes! This Thursday, have your children bring any old batteries, cell phones, and shoes (pairs of women's, men's, and children's shoes, which may include athletic sneakers, cleats, flats, high heels, dress shoes, boots, flip flops and fashion or casual sneakers) and we will greet them in the school lobby with collection receptacles. Shoes must be in pairs (except for flip flops) and we are unable to accept ski boots, roller skates, roller blades, ice skates, sandals, or slippers, as well as a shoe that has even a single hole that you can put a pen through and completely broken or ruined footwear. We are working with a company called Terracycle that will repurpose these old shoes for proper use and they will not end up in landfills!
Let's continue to do our part to live greener lives and teach our children to do the same!!
Remember Thursday is also Bus Riders Recognition Day.
So, Hop on the Bus with your recycling! |
DES Organic Garden Update
Students will be given the opportunity to harvest and eat lettuce and collards this Thursday during recess. We will be serving oil and vinegar for the lettuce. Please let your child's teacher know if you do not want your child to participate. |
