Desert Classic DanceSport Championships

Greetings!

July 12th is drawing near and entries are still pouring in. If you are planning on attending, please please get your forms in right away!

The Kindness Project: In recent days we've run into several people who have volunteered to do something kind for others. It makes us believe in the goodness of others. So we are sponsoring a "Kindness Project." Would you like to do something kind for someone else? Maybe donate something, a spectator ticket for a friend? A pair of dance shoes for a child? Pay for a few extra entries for a loved one? When we posted this on Facebook we received some overwhelming offers. For details on how to participate, please read the full article in this issue of the Desert Classic Times.

Professional "All Stars" show with Wendy Johnson and Igor Suvorov on Saturday night at Desert Classic. Wendy and Igor performed this Argentine Tango routine during the Ballroom Congress at Blackpool this year and then again at San Diego Dancesport Championships earlier this month. It's a wonderful routine and we hope you enjoy it!

Livestream: Paradigm Digital-DVD will be broadcasting Desert Classic LIVE on Friday & Saturday nights and during Sunday matinee for junior events. Tell your friends & family to watch FREE on the Paradigm Channel.

The DC Times has discovered some breaking news about Steve & Maria McGill of Designs to Shine. Get the scoop in this issue.

Desert Classic Officials: The list of officials has been updated.

Desert Classic will once again be an international competition. We've got couples joining us from Ireland, Israel, Hong Kong and Russia. It's going to be a ton of fun.

See you on deck real soon!

Project Kindness  (We'd like you to be a part of it)
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Aesop
The Desert Classic is giving "kindness awards" to recognize good deeds. We've experienced much kindness from others in our lives and are grateful for the blessings. We finally decided to do something about it and are calling it "Project Kindness."

The plan has one simple goal: to encourage people to do something nice for someone else. There are many ways to accomplish this. Here are some ideas ... buy a friend a ballroom ticket, donate a pair of shoes to a child, pay for a solo video for someone, give some sort of surprise to a friend or loved one ... or anything else you can think of. It can be anything -- like the student who is giving someone a spa treatment.

We want to hear from you if you want to do something. (Of course, if you prefer, you may remain anonymous.) We simply want to find a way to encourage good deeds in our community and to bring smiles to peoples' faces.

Shortly after we started thinking about this project we received a call from someone who wanted to give 20 surprise entries to a loved one. Soon after that, we received an email from someone who wants to give away books to kids on Sunday during junior events. It's snowballed a bit and we'll be making some happy announcements during Desert Classic. If you have an idea about a kindness you'd like to bestow on someone, you can reply to this email, post a private message on the Desert Classic Fan Page or on our personal Facebook page. Thanks, Igor & Irina.

Steve & Maria McGill ... no moss growing under their feet!

In a recent interview with the folks at Designs to Shine, we uncovered some awesome news. First of all, Maria McGill recently became co-organizer of Florida Superstars Dancesport Championships. The McGills also have another company called "Fantasy Guild Tours." And, as if this isn't enough, Maria recently decided to make her own foray into the fashion world and will soon launch a new fashion line of her own. Wow! Who can keep up with this dynamic couple?

Designs to Shine is the largest production house in the ballroom industry and sponsors several top couples including Mikail Avdeev/Olga Blinova, Emmanuel Pierre-Antione/Liana Churilova, Dmitry Kurakin/Violetta Kurakina and Gary McIntyre/Susan Kirkland. Their amazing designs outfitted Ballroom and Latin dancers in the first 5 seasons of "So You Think You Can Dance."

Fantasy Guild Tours offers fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime grand tours of exotic desinations ... like Rio, Cuba and Africa. Think you've visited these places? Maybe so, but it's unlikely you've experienced them in the over-the-top way that Fantasy Guild can provide for you. Each tour looks simply delicious!

Designs to Shine, a Desert Classic Platinum Sponsor, will be around all weekend. You can chat with them about all this and more.
