A Word from Max
As I write this we are already welcoming our mission partners for our 2014 Global Impact Celebration. It give me great joy to pause each year and get caught up on what the Lord is doing in and through us and our partners, both locally and around the globe. It is absolutely the case that there is only one mission that matters. . .the mission of Jesus Christ in the world. And that mission is so multifaceted. What a joy to be able to play a role in it.
As you are no doubt aware, my role in that global mission will change dramatically on May 1. As I wind up my ministry among you here and prepare to move into my new position as President/CEO of The Mission Society, I know many of you have joined me in praying for both my transition, and the Lord's leading in the search for a new Senior Pastor for The Family Church. Because we are all part of one mission, I know the Lord will honor those prayers! Even now, I believe God is preparing our new pastor for this calling. In connection with that process, I wanted to share with you the following message from Elder Randy Reid, who will be chairing our search process: . . . READ ON

Whispers in the Dark
Scripture - "Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, "No, don't worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus." (Revelation 19:10 NLT). READ ON

Discipleship
Export Only What You Import
Jesus commissioned us to "make disciples" which is done in relationships. But we can't "make" anything until we are in the process of being made. I hope you noticed that I said in the process of being made and not perfect or complete Christians. Too many Christians are sitting on the sidelines in terms in discipleship because they don't feel like they have anything to offer another believer.. .READ ON

Tailgating
This word is full of meaning especially if you are a Gator fan. It conjures up mental images of Saturday afternoons at the Swamp, BBQ, friends and throwing the football. Some people drive their RVs into Gainesville and spend multiple days here waiting for the football game.
On March 14th, TFC is inviting you to come tailgate on our property. We want you to bring your RV or a tent and your BBQ grill and experience an evening and a night (if you desire) here at the church. We will all fire up our BBQ grills and share our food with everyone. Play some games. Sit around a bonfire and enjoy some worship and sharing what God is doing in our lives.
Plan on joining us and bring some friends!

March 17th Happy St. Patrick's Day or
Should I say, "Happy Maewyn Day"
I know that most of you believe that March 17th is St. Patrick's Day, but technically speaking it should be Maewyn Day. Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary given credited with converting Ireland to Christianity in the AD 400s.
-
St Patrick was not actually Irish. Most scholars believe he was born around 375AD in Scotland to Roman citizens living in Britain. His real name was Maewyn Succat. . . . READ ON

Light up the Night with Little Lights
Stephen F. Larner, PhD
The firefly's photic organ, that beacon on their tail, converts almost 100% of its energy to produce light. By contrast, an incandescent bulb loses 90% of its energy to heat. Although all fireflies are bioluminescent as larvae, only certain species uses light as adults to attract mates. There are other similar species within the same genus that, as adults, use pheromones, i.e., scents, to find mates. Those that use pheromones tend to have small eyes but large antennae, better to detect the pheromones of a suitor. Fireflies with a photic organ have larger eyes and smaller antennae thus they are better adept to see the flirtatious blinking across the meadow.6 . . .READ ON

WOMEN'S MINISTRY
Regrets....
After several attempts at securing a date and place for Spring Retreat without success, the Women's Council regrets that we will not be able to facilitate a retreat this spring. We are planning an "away" weekend for next year!
However, we will have the Mother/Daughter/Special Other Tea in May so watch your bulletin for date and time. If you are available to serve on the committee for this event, please contact Angie Phillips at philag@bellsouth.net or Vivian Sawyer, viviansawyer@yahoo.com . We would appreciate your thoughts, ideas and help.
Thanks...and...Blessings,
Vivian Sawyer
