A Word from Max Max

By the time you read this, we will have just finished out annual celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord. I love Holy Week and Easter. It is the most amazing time of the year for me. I hope it was a blessing for you as well. Christ the Lord is risen, indeed!

Some months ago, many members of our church family participated in a Spiritual Health survey online called Reveal. I am grateful to all who took the time to complete the survey. We have received our results, and they paint quite an interesting picture. You will be hearing much more about our results in the coming weeks and months, as the elders and staff work with the data. For now, I want to mention one finding of the report. Reveal has let us know that many in our church are looking for a clear pathway for growth as disciples of Jesus Christ. Many of us are ready and willing to grow in discipleship and simply need to know how and where to go next. We will be working on that in a variety of ways. Stay tuned.

Whispers in the Dark

Scripture:

"Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?" "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"

Observation: As the children of Israel prepare to take the City of Jericho, suddenly Joshua sees an angel outfitted for war. His immediate response is to question whose side the angel is on: his side or that of his enemies? The response is wonderful: "Neither," he says. I am on command of the armies of the Lord! As such, the angel is only on God's side! It appears that Joshua has asked the wrong question! However, he immediately rethinks, and this time he gets it right! "What message does my Lord have for his servant?" Note the humble response. Note the willingness to hear from the Lord. Note the affirmation that he sees himself as the servant of the Lord, and not the other way around! This is the proper posture for those of us who would hear from and follow the Lord in our lives.

 Worship and Arts Ministry
 Larry Carpenter

Hi everyone!  Easter is just around the corner and we are ramping up for some great services. Obviously, it's our team members that make things happen each and every week, not just the "signature" weeks like Christmas, GIC, our Church Anniversary and Holy Week to name a few.

Neil Zimmerman is one of those behind-the-scenes kind of volunteer that I'm talking about...I'll let Neil take it from here:

      Introducing Neil Zimmerman:

Zimmerman bio

Hi, I'm Neil.

I serve on staff as a youth ministry intern here at The Family Church. I also hang out with the media team quite a bit. Currently I am a junior at The University of Florida, studying Telecommunications Production. I want to use what I am learning in school to help communicate the gospel message in ways that technology would not allow even just a few years ago. As humans, our need to communicate presses demand for such technology and as Christians this allows us to reach more and more people with God's good news!

Thank you Neil for sharing part of your story. We're really glad you're here. Great thing is, we have room for you too...please let us know how we can find a place for you!

Come join us as we go...Larry

Albanian Impact

Praise the Lord for God's answers to prayers concerning the Albanian Short-Term Mission (STM) team. God blessed our dear ladies, not only with a personally enriching trip, but they also had a significant impact on both the Albanian women to whom they ministered as well as advancing the ministry of our missionary partners David and Sarah vanOrman's work though The Planters Seed Foundation.

BIG THANKS!

To all leaders, students, parents, host homes and prayer partners that teamed up to make our recent Axis discipleship weekend for students such a success, allow me to say "Thank you!"

Stats: 54 kids, 18 leaders, 5 host families and 40 hours of connections with each other and Jesus that will be producing spiritual fruit for a long time to come.  Oh yeah, and Jesus got a hold of 9 teenagers who surrendered their lives to Him!!!! Awesome stuff!!!!

Can't wait until next year,

Pastor Mark

Men's Ministry

WE WERE NOT CREATED TO BE ALONE!

Through the creation of man, God was pleased with everything He had created.  After observing Adam for a period of time, however, God felt it was not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18).  From this desire to provide companionship for Adam, God created another human being.

The story of the creation of Adam and Eve is a wonderful story about marriage, but it is also a strong message that man was not created to be alone.  Many theologians believe that Hell is not a crowded place of evil people poking each other with pitchforks. They believe that Hell is total separation from God and others; it is isolation for eternity.

Loss of Magnetism 1-4

by  Stephen F. Larner, PhD

Earth image

Surrounding the earth is a magnetic field that protects all living things. This field, generated by well-understood and well-documented electric currents in its metallic core, impedes and filters incoming solar and stellar radiation that continually bombards earth. This radiation can do severe damage to life by causing harmful mutations that can contribute to aging and death of living things. Indeed life here would be impossible without this field.

Yet scientists to their surprise discovered the field is quickly wearing down. When reported in 1971 by creation scientist Dr. Thomas Barnes, then Professor of Physics at The University of Texas at El Paso, drew fresh attention to the fact the strength of the earth's magnetic field was decreasing5. Barnes, author of a well-regarded electromagnetism textbook6, proposed the magnetic field was caused by a decaying electric current in the earth's metallic core. Barnes calculated that at the current's existing rate of decay it could not have been declining for more than 10,000 years. Any stronger it would have been so large as to melt the earth. Therefore, the earth must be younger than that.

"For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him
should not perish
but have everlasting life".  (John 3:16)

For the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23)

In Him we have redemption through
His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace. (Ephesians 1:7)
