Robert Regan, a distinguished executive recognized for consistent innovation in the production of groundbreaking digital media content and delivery strategies and a 1975 graduate of Mount Wachusett Community College, will deliver the keynote address during the college's 48th Commencement on May 16.

Regan, honored as Mount Wachusett's Alumnus of the Year in 1989, forged a career record of revolutionary consumer, media, communication and technology platform product development for broadcast, cable, online and mobile channels.

A native of Lowell, Regan has served as president and chief operating officer for Twin Entertainment, a joint venture of the U.S.-based Interactive Network and U.K.-based Two Way TV, Ltd.; senior vice president of programming and content for GTE MainStreet, the first two-way cable television service in the U.S.; executive producer of NBC's "Mall of America," the first major network shopping show; and senior vice president of programming, news and operations for the Financial News Network (now CNBC).

Recognized for consistent innovation in the production of groundbreaking digital media content and delivery strategies, Regan was recently appointed founding director of the Dr. John Keshishoglou Center for Global Communications Innovation, an executive graduate program with an industry think tank based at Ithaca College.

MWCC Hosting Free College Day for the Community on April 13

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, MWCC is hosting Free College Day, an event on Saturday, April 13 featuring more than 50 free workshops and classes, 50 door prizes, career and academic resources, tours and other activities. Faculty and staff from throughout the college are volunteering for the day, offering their expertise in a wide range of topics. Participants are eligible to enter to win 50 door prizes including an iPad, Theatre at the Mount family pack tickets, Fitness and Wellness Center memberships, free credit and noncredit courses, college sweatshirts, and other items.

 

MWCC Named to President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll  
Mount Wachusett Community College has been named to the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its strong institutional commitment to service and campus-community partnerships that produce measurable results for North Central Massachusetts. The Honor Roll, an annual recognition since 2006, is the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service learning, and civic engagement.
 
MWCC Vice President Receives National Communications Award
MWCC Vice President of Marketing and Communications Robin A. Duncan has been recognized with the national 2013 Communicator of the Year Award by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations. Duncan, who was named NCMPR District 1 Communicator of the Year last fall, was selected for the top national award from among the organization's seven district award recipients. The Communicator of the Year Award honors a two-year college marketing professional who has demonstrated leadership and ability in college communications.
  
American Veterans Traveling Tribute & Traveling Wall Coming to MWCC 
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute will bring its Traveling Wall to MWCC April 10 through 14 in honor of the college's 50th anniversary. The Traveling Wall, an 80-percent scale version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will be escorted on April 10 at 3 p.m. by the Patriot Riders Chapter 3 to Gardner City Hall for a brief ceremony, then proceed to the college soccer field. Events and activities include an opening ceremony on April 11, a candlelight vigil on April 13 and a closing ceremony on April 14. The exhibit is sponsored by MWCC's student Veterans Group and the college's Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success, through the generous support of several community sponsors. 
  
MWCC Celebrates Women's History Month 

MWCC's celebration of Women's History Month continues with several upcoming events. Earlier this month, the annual Women's Herstory project was unveiled, featuring college faculty and staff who play an important role in the lives of students.
