CHOICES FOR MANAGING LOSS OR GRIEF
|
In issue 387 "Go Chop Wood" (click here), we discussed different types of losses, such as a person, pet, relationship, job, etc. and some of the physical coping strategies that you can use. Now it's time to start raking up the saw dust (emotions) for healing.
1. Maintain a healthy daily routine.
2. Journal. Write whatever comes to mind. Don't filter your thoughts and emotions, just write.
3. Say an affirmation or prayer that is positive and grateful.
4. Reach out to others for lunch or coffee. Try Volunteering.
5. Connect with nature in your favorite way.
6. Honor your loved one in ways that are comforting and meaningful to you.
7. Avoid using chemicals to numb your feelings. It's masking your feelings and extending and delaying the grief.

This week I invite you to do the following:
1. Reflect on what you done in the past that has helped you thru a loss?
2. How can you help someone that is going thru a loss in their life?
3. For one week experiment journaling your thoughts and feelings.
If you'd like to talk about any of the thoughts or feelings that you've journaled, feel free to share your experience with me.
If you or someone you know is dealing with loss or grief and would like my assistance in "raking", simply give me a call 816-213-0125.
