LOSS AND GRIEF
On Memorial weekend we remembered those dear to us who have passed on. Recently I've experienced the loss of several persons who were either very close to me or close to people I care about. All of us have suffered such losses and this will continue, even more so as one advances in years.
LOSS IS LOSS, PAIN IS PAIN
That's right! It might be the loss of a partner, a family member, a friend, a pet, a relationship, a job, a retirement, etc. Pain is pain!
THE ASPECTS OF GRIEF AND LOSS
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross is considered an authority on the subject of grief and loss. She talks about the different aspects of grief and loss: depression, denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance. Often if a person is still struggling on a regular basis after two years, that person is not willing to move forward. Each of us reacts differently to grief and loss, for some it takes longer than others.
EXERCISE
This week I invite you do the following:

1.    Think about someone you've lost or something you've lost in your life and think about how you were able to manage your emotions in that situation. Has it been more than two years and are you still struggling? Do you feel like you are stuck or moving forward?

2.     Are you willing to have a conversation with someone who is experiencing the loss of a partner, friend, family, pet, job, etc.? Are you willing to create the opportunity for them to share their feelings with you?

If you're swimming in rough waters, just email me or call me at 816-213-0125. I am trained to coach you how to swim thru this and get out of the water.
