| Bill is 93 PROOF |
The subject today is 93 Proof. I'm not describing the alcohol content of a whiskey made in Kansas City. Instead I'm talking about a man who is a respected role model in the Kansas City area who has been on this planet for 93 years.
His name is Bill Guilfoil. I'm writing this issue on Feb. 7 while Bill is in Greensboro NC. So what's so unique about him being in Greensboro NC? It's because he's there for the Trials for the Olympic Table Tennis team. Four years ago at age 89 he also tried out for the Olympic team. While he did very well, he didn't make the team.

| Defy the Odds and Be a Champ |
A stereotype view would be that as an 89 years old he had no chance of making the Olympics. Then 4 years later at age 93, how could he ever expect to make the Olympic team? After all, his competitors are typically in their twenties and the sport requires great hand/eye coordination, finesse, strong knees, excellent eye sight and stamina. So why is Bill in NC today? The answer is simple. Bill Guilfoil defies the odds.
Bill is a nationally ranked player. Even more importantly, he is a champion in life, whether or not he makes the Olympic team. He is a great teacher of table tennis and life lessons. This sport has not only been his profession but also keeps him socially involved, physically strong, and eating properly. He is a role model to all of us.
