This is the seventh in a series on Motivation.

De-energizers

We have all experienced situations or people who frustrate us, drag us down, stop our progress (our flow), and demotivate us. Let's call them De-energizers, which can change our mood, affect our ability to focus, and keep us from accomplishing our goals.

Some De-energizers

Here are a few De-energizers:

  • Bureaucracy
  • Team members who disregard the established process
  • Too many rules
  • Ambiguous objectives
  • People who procrastinate
  • People who have unrealistic expectations of you
  • People who give you fake deadlines
  • Complainers/whiners (Do you remember MR. and Mrs. Weiner on Saturday Night Live?)
  • Petty conflicts
  • Gossip
Exercise

This week I invite you to reflect on the following:

1. Do you allow others to stifle your projects and to De-energize you?

2. Notice each day what pulls you down or DRAINS YOUR ENERGY.

3. Do you have a particular method to prevent others from De-energizing you?

I really look forward to getting your thoughts which are important to me. Thank you for sharing.
