| Ethos and Your Visionary Self | |
In the last issue we looked at Aristotle's Ethos which is personal integrity or "walking the talk". Your ethos (character) is crucial in discovering your visionary self. Only then can you consistently motivate yourself and others.
|
| Interview Yourself To Discover Your Visionary Self | |
1. The Flow. You have experienced being in a state of flow when you took a challenging task and accomplished it with ease. It's being on the top of your game. Ask yourself what it was and how you did it. Can you replicate that? Does that motivate you?
2. Profound. You have had profound life experiences. Which one(s) still impacts you? Do they motivate you to do something or not to do something?
3. Conflict. You have probably had a situation when someone (teacher, boss, family member, religious leader, or friend) expected you to do something that was in conflict with your ethos and your vision. What motivated you to make your decision?
|
| Exercise | |
This week I invite you to reflect on the following:
1. Which of your accomplishments/achievements do you value the most? Why?
2. Name the people you've helped the most during your life. How did you help them? Did you motivate them to do something or to stop doing something?
3. Who appreciates you the most? Who will miss you the most?
