THE HISTORY OF THANKSGIVING
|
In 1863 the U.S. was embattled in the civil war. There was horrible bloodshed and division within the country and within many families. With this backdrop, President Lincoln issued a Proclamation for a national day of THANKSGIVING. He had the courage to ask Americans to celebrate a Harvest festival. So, despite any challenges facing any of us, we're still called on Thanksgiving Day to express gratitude.

EXERCISE
|
I invite you to reflect on your year's HARVEST.
- What is your harvest this year? How does that harvest relate to your family, your career, and in other ways?
- Please list three things for which you are thankful.
- Consider expressing your gratitude at your Thanksgiving table. For some it could become a new ritual, and for some it could feel uncomfortable. Go for it!
I really want to hear your experience of doing this exercise.
