THE FOLKLORE STORY

Folklore tells of the mature eagle whose feathers have become so old and full that it can only fly a short distance to catch its prey.  The eagle then struggles to reach a mountain top to make its decision.  Once there, It can choose to just sit and eventually die.  Or, it can choose the painful and long process of plucking out all the old feathers in order to allow the growth of the new.  Of course the eagle makes the courageous decision to tear out the old.

LESSONS

Tearing out the old is sometimes the only way to survive or to thrive.  This requires change and often involves pain and courage.

 EXERCISE

This week I invite you to reflect on where you are in your life (your mountain top):

  1. What wings (resources, habits, patterns) have brought you to your mountain top?
  2. What knowledge and skills have brought you to your mountain top?

  3. Are there any old habits and patterns that you want to tear out (release) in order to fly forward in your life?

I regularly coach individuals and organizations going through change.  I will be happy to listen to you and assist you.  Invest in yourself, you're worth it.  Just pick up the phone.

"But in the end it is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change."
