| VISION | |
Today we will talk about an extraordinary level of success reached by a visionary.
|
|
WHAT IS A VISIONARY?
| |
The definition of a visionary is...
vi·sion·ar·y
- (esp. of a person) thinking about or planning the future with imagination or wisdom. "a visionary leader"
- a person with original ideas about what the future will or could be like.
(I also believe that to be a successful visionary, one must have a thick skin, courage, and someone who believes in her/him.)

HENRY FORD
| |
Henry Ford, born in 1863, entered the automobile scene in 1893, when cars were just a hobby for the rich and considered to have little utility. People were understandably skeptical because the cars were unreliable, not much faster than a horse, and far more costly to buy and maintain than a horse. In fact "the experts" dismissed cars as a highly speculative, unwise, and even silly invention. But Ford was undaunted and eschewed the opinions of these, "experts".

|
FORD - AND THE BIRTH OF THE MODEL T
| |
Ford didn't have the benefit of surveys, opinion polls, focus groups, or a financial analyst. What Ford had was experience as an engineer for another great visionary, Thomas Edison, who coached and encouraged him to push forward with his automobile experimentation, despite the naysayers. Thus, the Model T was born October 1, 1908.

FORD'S TEAM OF COACHES
| |
Although the term "business coach" probably wasn't used in the early 1900's, Ford had the wisdom to form a small team to collaborate.
|
EXERCISE:
| |
This week I invite you to reflect on the following:
- Do you have a dream or a vision that you are pursuing?
- What is your level of tenacity?
- Do you need permission to be successful?
- From who do you need permission?
