Unemployment claims fall in new sign of gradual labor recovery....

Over the last four weeks, new jobless filings averaged 352,500, which is down from the four-week moving average of 371,250 in the comparable period a year earlier. New filings reflect layoff trends, and the slow and steady decline indicates that employers are generally operating with lean staffs - and thus poised for more hiring if broader economic conditions improve.

Personnel Source assists Tyree Oil with its service expansion in Flagstaff, AZ.......

When recently called on by Eugene based Tyree Oil

to help ramp up the specialty services division of their Flagstaff Branch, Senior Recruiter Rebecca Hill didn't let the fact that Personnel Source doesn't have an office in Arizona stop her from quickly answering with "Yes We Can".  "I immediately thought why not, I mean, we are currently providing staffing for companies in places like Utah, Indiana, Idaho, why not Arizona". Jerry Stiltner, Personnel Source's General Manager adds, "The fact is we have processes and systems in place to quickly recruit, screen and hire people to work just about anywhere in the country. Often this means partnering with the client to match our expertise with their boots on the ground to provide the best service outcome." In this case Personnel Source is recruiting Rail Lubrication Technicians for Tyree's growing demand for Rail Lubrication Services.

The superyacht, known as Project 2GES, is due for delivery to its owner in January 2016. The new contract is the 10th superyacht in the Christensen order book, comprising almost a third of the total orders - 34 - in all of America's shipyards.  This sales success has brought with it a much needed employment base to the Port of Vancouver.  The company added of 60 positions in 2012 and expects to add 40 more in the next few months. Report Suggests OSHA Safeguard Contingent Workers

A new report from the Center for Progressive Reform says the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration should revise its policies to better protect temporary or contingent workers. The report indicates that contingent workers are popular in the farming, construction, warehousing, and hotel services sectors as a means of lowering health insurance and workers' compensation costs, and that they often are assigned to the most hazardous jobs without being given the proper training or safety equipment.  Full Story here...
