 2016 Pledge Season Why Give? by Theresa Goriczynski
"Be grateful. Share your gifts. Tithe to the church. There but for the grace of God go you or I." These words, my father's mantra, were burned into my memory at a young age, and they continue to inform my donation choices to this day.
I choose to tithe to NDBC because of the local, national and international impact of my gift. I am confident that the pledge that I make will be used wisely and responsibly. Through the children's and youth programs, the missions work in Taliaferro, our support of the Food Bank, and the Habitat for Humanity builds, we foster faith and enable stronger communities. As a congregation, we give a significant percentage of our budget to missions programs, connecting us with a variety of organizations locally and globally. Please consider all of the good work your pledge commitment enables here at NDBC and in the world we inhabit. |

Submit Your Pledge for the 2016 Church Budget Through Any of These Ways:
+ You can return your pledge card by "snail mail".
+ You can pick up a pledge card at the door of the church office, fill it out on the spot, and leave it in the envelope on the Business Manager's (Rose Hidlay) door.
+ You can pick up a pledge card in the Narthex, fill it out and drop it in the offering plate (or hand it to an Usher).
+ You can call the church office (404-237-8621), ask for Rose, and tell her your pledge (or even leave her a voice mail).

NDBC Business Meeting

As required by the NDBC bylaws, the Church's annual meeting will be held at the next Church-in-conference, which is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, beginning at 6:45 PM in the Fellowship Hall. The meeting provides an opportunity for you to receive updates on the works of the Church's ministry teams and committees. Please come to learn more about our activities!

 Triple E "Secret Lives of the Elderly" with Tom Vander Ven November 10, @ 11 AM In the Fellowship Hall An exploration of the inner lives of those who have lived a long life. Do the elderly have secrets? Can we learn about those secrets? Tom will talk about literature, psychology, and the inner world of the later years. |
 Shop for the Holidays and Support the Preschool! Joleen Neel, Preschool Director
The Preschool is sponsoring a book fair with the Barnes and Noble store (located on 2900 Peachtree Rd in Atlanta). The school will receive 15% of the proceeds raised from the sale, which will be used to purchase books and music for the Preschool Library.
Families and friends of the Preschool may participate in the fair in two ways: (1) buying books, music or other eligible items in the store on November 19. Just tell the clerk at checkout that you are supporting the Preschool at Northside Drive Baptist Church; or (2) online, any time, between November 19-23, at the Barnes and Noble website (www.barnesandnoble.com). Just enter the code 11719499 at check-out.
If you need a new book, or plan to give books as presents this holiday season, please help support the Preschool when you make your purchase. Church members are always welcome to borrow a book from our nice collection. Stop by the preschool office, and I will personally help you choose the perfect book for your child or grandchild.

Dr. Wolfe considers the vulnerability of widows and the difficult situation of foreigners in biblical times. She explores themes of loyalty, bitterness, courage, poverty and seduction. What really happened on the threshing room floor? Combining humor and careful scholarship, this study invites you to re-read the book with new insight and understanding for all its characters, especially the intelligent, confident-even uppity-heroine Ruth.

 Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service Sunday, November 22, @ 6:30 PM Ahavath Achim Synagogue
The congregations of Ahavath Achim Synagogue, St. Anne's Episcopal, Northside Drive Baptist, New Hope A.M.E., Northside United Methodist, and Trinity Presbyterian churches will join together to celebrate the annual interfaith Thanksgiving Eve service to be held at 6:30 PM on Sunday, November 22, at Ahavath Achim Synagogue, with Rev. Pam Driesell of Trinity Presbyterian Church preaching. All are invited to share in this celebration of gratitude and generosity. |

Don't want to get up before 9 AM? Join this class of young singles and couples in their 20s and 30s to nosh on the Word in an informal setting at a local restaurant. They will gather around the table during lunch after the worship service every Sunday. This class will examine the lectionary texts, deconstruct the sermon of the day, and fellowship together with food and drink.
