     What's Cookin'
Growing up in Louisiana our meals were heavily influenced thru Cajun and Creole dishes. Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which begins on Ash Wednesday.  So enjoy this Louisiana favorite, although you might not want to wait till Mardi Gras!

We'll post them in the next newsletter!

March is here and warm weather is right around the corner.

A lot has happened since the January newsletter and I apologize we did not have a February one. I have written about my mom many times in the newsletter and a lucky few of you knew her personally. I want everyone to know that Mama went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning January 26th. She was 86 years old and as she told me many times "my parts are wearing out." If you want to read a beautiful tribute to her written by her grandson that embodies all of what her grandchildren and others thought of her; here's the link.

She was a giant in my life and instrumental to whom I am today, I will greatly miss her, but I know I will see her again someday.

Some exciting news: our little Eli Phillip is only a couple weeks or less from entering this world. Hannah, Phil, Grandmommy and Grampy are so excited! We will certainly let you know when he arrives. So keep checking on our Facebook page for the announcement.

Sincerely,

Bill

I attended a meeting recently that the city held and we now have a better timeline for when they will be starting construction on Broad Street. It looks like April is the plan to being in the area in front of our building. I know there will be times when trafffic is going to be affected; I have been assured they will do everything possible to minimize the impact on getting in and out of our parking lot. When that time comes we will do everything in our power to make it easy for you. We will keep you informed and will use our Facebook page as one of the many tools to keep you updated. If you have not "liked" us on Facebook as of yet and would like to know about upcoming events, or maybe even read a joke or two here is the link to "like" us.

The City is thinking of moving the skate park from where it is now by the Hudson Bridge to across the street from us at the entrance of the Broad Street Parkway. We have our thoughts on this and do not think it is the proper place for it for many reasons. If you have your own thoughts on this I would appreciate it if you would contact your alderman or the Mayor's office and let them know what you think. I have not seen a notice for a public meeting on the skate park yet but I'm asking you to attend and voice your thoughts on that issue as well. We would greatly appreciate it.

We added a spot on our website titled, "Love Gurney's? Tell us why!" it is located at the top right hand corner of the site. If you click on it, you can leave us a review on Goodle, Yahoo or Yelp and it would be most appreciated!

So that's how!

The importance  of having your coolant flushed.

Antifreeze must be used year round to properly dissipate heat and to protect your vehicle from freezing during the winter. The new antifreeze must also be correctly mixed with water. If pure antifreeze is used, it will cause overheating and your air conditioning will not function properly.
