St. Mary's County Library will host a True Hero and His Tail-Wagging Best Friend!

The St. Mary's County Library is pleased to host New York Times bestselling author and retired U.S. Army Captain Luis Carlos Montalvn and his service dog, "Tuesday," for two programs held at the Lexington Park Library. Both programs are free and open to the public.

Montalvn, accompanied by his very best friend and golden retriever, Tuesday, will present their widely acclaimed children's book "Tuesday Tucks Me In" and talk about their special bond. The tale, told from Tuesday's point of view, tackles post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and living with disabilities. A dynamic K-9/handler demonstration of the types of tasks that Tuesday does to help Luis every day will follow the reading. This program is for all ages and will be held on Sunday, September 13, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The next day, Monday, September 14, at 6 p.m., Montalvn and Tuesday will return for a program about their New York Times bestselling book "Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him." Inspiration and education come together in this heartwarming celebration of the human-canine bond as they discuss their story of two wounded warriors who found salvation in each other. This program is for adults and teens ages 13 years and older.

Capt. Montalvn and Tuesday will stay after each program to sign books and meet with the audience. Both award-winning books, "Until Tuesday" and "Tuesday Tucks Me In" will be available for purchase at the programs. Audience members may also bring their own books to have signed.
