TRANSLATION PROJECTS: TIPS FOR SUCCESS
Stellar Documents and Key Processes

Fountain Pen and Dictionary Our last newsletter featured an article titled "Creating Stellar Translation Documents," which highlighted the importance of reviewing source documents, engaging in dialogue with the translation vendor, creating a glossary and style guide, and clear communication regarding crucial details. Use the links below to read TTE's two-part March blog post on choosing a translation vendor.

Tips for Choosing a Translation Vendor: Part I

As companies increasingly conduct business across continents and cultures in today's global economy, translation services are rapidly becoming a necessity for key company documents. Yet translated sales and marketing documents, legal materials, technical documents, and human resource materials are only effective if the language accurately connects with and meets the needs of the reader. So, what do you look for when hiring a translation vendor for your project? Focusing on quality control during the translation process, BEFORE you start the project can help you make a more informed decision and avoid project pitfalls. ... Read More

DONATIONS
A Long-Standing TTE Tradition

Terry Thompson, TTE Transcripts CEO, has a long history of personal contributions, as well as donations on behalf of TTE, to various causes. In recent months she has contributed on behalf of TTE to the Brunswick RFC team of the Ohio Youth Rugby Organization and BUILD International Ministries.
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue: One Woman's Lifestyle of Helping Impacts Animals and People

In our last newsletter we mentioned TTE's donation to 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue, a small independent wildlife rehab home operated by Nancy Williams. TTE had the opportunity to talk with Williams in May about 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue and her passion for helping animals and wildlife.

"From a young age, my mom always took me to the wildlife rehabilitation centers in Minnesota," Williams says. Her family also welcomed animals at their home, raising many animals themselves. In 2005 when Williams couldn't find a local rehabber for an injured squirrel, she decided there was a need she could meet. She researched, networked and trained with a local vet, and fulfilled the Department of Natural Resource requirements for wildlife rehabbers. 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue was licensed by the Department of Natural Resources in 2006.

A not-for-profit entity, 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue is currently supported by private donations for equipment, supplies, and veterinarian costs. Some of those contributions come from Williams herself, others from outside sources. And it's the combination of animals and people that Williams loves. "The people and families that rescue, who find these animals, are awesome to me," says Williams. Equally amazing to Williams are the people who have supported her efforts through fundraising and donating, and her colleagues in the network of rehabbers not only in the U.S. but around the world. And when people come to visit after bringing an animal to be cared for or making a donation to 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue, she loves the wonderment in their eyes as she shows them around her farm and how she is working with the animals.

In addition to wildlife rescue, 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue works with animal control shelters to rescue house rabbits and offer them for adoption, provides foster care for Homeless Hounds Rescue, offers hospice care for senior dogs, and does companion animal rescue.

From one squirrel to much more today, 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue is still at its core the passion of one woman operating a small independent wildlife rehab home. And for Williams, its a lifestyle with maximum impact. "When you make a difference in an animal's life, you won't believe how many lives you touch," she says.

NETWORKING AND MARKETING
Connecting Locally and Nationally

TTE CEO Terry Thompson has been busy over the last few months with networking and marketing opportunities in her community. She attended various Chamber of Commerce mixers and participated in networking lunches and groups.

In April Thompson attended the Entrepreneur: U Make It Grow conference. In addition to participating, having a TTE booth, and doing a drawing for the IdeaScribe
app, she offered a transcript of the Entrepreneur: U Make It Grow event to all attendees. In May, a short profile of Thompson and TTE appeared in the Illinois regional publication, McHenry County Magazine.

On a public relations note, the call for next generation IdeaScribe app beta testers garnered some attention, with mention in NCRA Tech Tracker, The Wall Street Journal, and TribLocal.

We used TTE to transcribe a company meeting and found the transcript to be very helpful. I would definitely use TTE again. They accomplished in a short time what would have taken me much longer to do. Happy with the results, I also recommended TTE and its transcription services to a colleague.
