Meet Stacy Claycomb, Aud
Dr. Claycomb has worked at the University of Colorado Hospital since 2007. Stacy coordinates the newborn hearing screening program, ensuring that the UCH's youngest patients receive a hearing screening soon after they are born. She shares her experience of working with rural populations with others working in remote areas through grant work. Stacy's primary focus is on pediatric diagnostics and amplification. She strives to stay on the leading edge of expertise by working new technology as it emerges into the field. In addition, Stacy presents her work to both the consumer and professional communities.
This past Spring, Stacy completed the Pediatric Audiology Speciality Certification. She is one of 45 audiologists nation-wide who currently hold this certificate.
Dr. Claycomb received her B.S. from Colorado State University in 1999, and her Doctorate of Audiology from University of Northern Colorado in 2006. She previously served on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Academy of Audiology and is a regional coordinator for the Colorado Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program.
Stacy is a native Coloradan and actively enjoys all that the state has to offer. Stacy often spends her free time hiking with her dog, mountain biking and, more recently, rock climbing. A little something you might not already know about Stacy is that she loves to bake. You can occasionally find her pies, or other baked goods at Compass Clinic, or MDHC Events. People have suggested that Stacy open her own bakery, and market her famous 'ear shaped' cookies. Stacy currently coaches CrossFit part time at Front Range CrossFit Gym. She considers a healthy lifestyle to be a successful key to life. Not only does Stacy coach several times a week, but she still manages to designate time for her own workout, and participate in local and national competitive events. | | | |

Teen Day 2012
Recap... | | |
Last week we had the privilege of welcoming 42 high school students and 15 educators and interpreters to the Marion Downs Hearing Center 'Teen Day 2012'.
The students spent the morning learning about community resources available to them, assistive technology, and inspirational stories from deaf/hard of hearing leaders in Denver. They particularly enjoyed the Panel of deaf/hard of hearing professionals. The Panel answered questions about school bullying, personal challenges in their lives, advice, and many other topics relevant to the students.
After spending the afternoon indoors, the students grabbed their coats and walked to General's Park for an afternoon of fun. The cold weather couldn't keep their laughter down. The students participated in five team building stations. They took turns doing everything from Relay Races to the Zipline. The day was full of adventure! Thank you to Jim Detterline and all our wonderful speakers and volunteers. This event wouldn't have been possible with you.
