Archdeaconry Synod in Britany
Approximately 120 Anglicans representing Anglican congregations throughout France and Monaco travelled to St-Jacut de la mer for the 10th annual meeting of the Archdeaconry Synod to take place at the historic St-Jacut Abbaye, in Brittany. St Paul's Archdeaconry Synod delegate Dani Carew is picture here (right) with synod delegates from Menton, Father David Hart and Valerie Aucouturier, aboard our flight to Rennes where we joined Samantha Stirling, our second lay delegate to synod, and a car was hired for the drive to St-Jacut.
Synod theme_ Migration
"Migration" was the timely theme of the Archdeaconry Synod this year with two speakers bringing contrasting experiences of work with migrants and refugees in Europe. Max McClellan shared his own experience working on behalf of the United Society (USPG) and the Anglican Alliance, with refugees and migrants in Greece. Doris Peschke from the  Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe, provided more a geo-political report on the steady flow of refugees and migrants towards Europe, and Europe's attempts to respond to this crisis.

Synod was also blessed with daily Bible studies lead by the Revd Dr Richard Briggs, Old Testament scholar from Cranmer Hall, Durham University; and a report from Ian Carter outlining diocesan Safeguarding policy -- concerned with the safety of children and vulnerable adults in our churches -- for which he is now responsible as the new Safeguarding Officer for the Diocese in Europe.
Commissioning a new lay reader for Aquitaine
One of the highlights of Archdeaconry Synod the commissioning of a new lay reader, Patrick Sturges from Aquitaine, who is pictured here (back turned) with his chaplain, the Revd Gill Strachan (right), Suffragan Bishop David Hamid and his chaplain, the Revd Deacon Frances Hiller.
Newly Ordained Bishop receives Shepherd's Cross
New bishop receiving this pectoral cross.

Photos from the episcopal ordination service (5 May) in Quebec City were shared recently. Here is one of Father Walter placing a pectoral cross with Christ the Good Shepherd featured, around the neck of newly ordained Bishop Bruce Myers OGS, while other brothers of OGS look on.
