Sunday Club Earth Sunday Celebrations
Freya Rose_s baptism
Big sister Aura holds the candle
Earth Sunday celebrations at Saint Paul's took place on 8th May and were organised and led by the Sunday Club again this year. The Earth Sunday service began with the Baptism of the newest member of our Sunday Club, Freya Rose Llewellyn (5 months old), with the help of her older sister Aura. Freya's parents are Stuart and Lianne, and her godparents are Johanna & Dino Rossi.
Members of the Sunday Club gave a group reading of the story of the Creation (Genesis 1) and they provided an "Eco Challenge" in the place of the sermon, with each child representing one important element in God's creation: trees, water, air and more. A colourful poster helped illustrate their message, and the message was quite clear, politics aside, we have a responsibility and it is in our best interests to care for the beautiful world God has provided as our home.
During the service the children distributed seeded hyacinths in biodegradable pots to each of the households represented at the service; the Sunday Club children also served as greeters, helped take up the Sunday collection, and led the congregation in some very joyful singing!

We are particularly grateful to Mirella Favoury, our Sunday Club teacher, Nicole Feaster and Jonny Richardson for coordinating this year's Earth Sunday celebration. Click here for photos and video from the Earth Sunday service.
 Ascension Day Picnic

Dani Carew, one of our Archdeaconry Synod Delegates, and Delegate for France at the Diocesan Synod, was pleased to welcome representatives from the Anglican Churches on the Riviera (ACR) to the annual Ascension Day Picnic that took place in Orgues again this year, thanks to the hospitality of Peter and Shirley Mason.

The picnic began with the celebration of Ascension Day Holy Communion and continued with a delicious "bring and share" lunch in the Mason family gardens in Orgues.

New Bishop in Quebec

Father Walter was delighted to join other members of the Oratory of the Good Shepherd (OGS) and representatives from across the Anglican world for the consecration of Bruce Myers OGS as a Bishop in the Church of Christ on Ascension Day (5 May 2016). Bishop Bruce served his curacy as a newly ordained deacon with Father Walter at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Quebec City, where the consecration took place. In November, Bishop Bruce was elected "coadjutor bishop with the right of succession" by the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Quebec and he will become, God willing, the 13th Lord Bishop of Quebec when the current bishop retires in 2017.
