" What are we Waiting for ? " Rev Bob Hurley from Grenoble
The annual ACR Ascension Day Picnic takes place on Thursday 5th May. ACR stands for Anglican Churches on the Riviera, and this well attended annual picnic, organised by our own Dani Carew, draws Anglicans from churches as far apart as Marseille and Menton. Let Dani know if you would like to attend this year's picnic and if you need or can offer a ride. Contact Dani at
danicarew@gmail.com or phone her at
06 40 62 88 67The Picnic is a BRING and SHARE so you are asked to bring a dish of something, a salad, a savoury dish or a dessert and please bring your own cutlery and plates. Glasses and a variety of drinks will be supplied by our hosts in Lorgues. The swimming pool will also be available for those that would like to use it. So coffee from 10.45am onwards followed by a celebration of Ascension about 11.15am before we share at each others tables in the garden.
Worshipping and having fun in the garden comes naturally to the folk in Lorgues as their church meets there during the summer months each month. So we hope you will be able to join us Please mark this day off in your diary as you are both welcome and needed !
We will be having a short Communion Service here before lunch so everyone has a chance to celebrate the Ascension. Bob Hurley, who is I.C.S Chaplain of Grenoble , will share a few thoughts with us on this special day and its meaning for each one of us.
The rough timetable for the day is ...
10.45 Coffee
11.15 Ascension Communion Service.
12.15 Picnic Lunch ( Bring and Share )
After lunch you are welcome to use the pool, enjoy the garden or simply catch up with what is going on in the other Chaplaincies along the Riviera. We expect to finish by about 4.00 but there is no timetable for when you may want to head for home.
