Bishop Robert's 2016 Lent Appeal
Click here or on the photo to read Bishop Robert's Lent Appeal letter.

The Rt Revd Robert Innes, Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe, has launched his annual Lent Appeal for 2016 to support the education of Palestinian children in the Holy Land. Bishop Robert writes, (this year's Lent Appeal) "relates to our neighbouring Diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East. Education is of vital importance in attempts to secure a peaceful future for the Middle East. Education makes it easier for youngsters to stay in their home countries rather than embarking on the refugee trail. And tangible help for Middle Eastern Christians expresses our solidarity with a community whose numbers have fallen from 20% to 2% of the land's total population in the last 60 years. So this year's appeal supports the Arab Evangelical Episcopal School in Ramallah in the West Bank. It will help the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem in the distribution of bursaries to needy students at the school."

Kindly consider making a donation in response to Bishop Robert's appeal. Gifts will be received at Sunday services at Saint Paul's over the next few weeks, and cheques can always be sent to Saint Paul's, made out to "Saint Paul's Church" with a note indicating that the cheque is in response to the Bishop's Lent Appeal. Thank you for your support!
A Truly Wonderful Mothering Sunday
The children and young people in the Saint Paul's Sunday Club very capably helped lead Sunday worship on Mothering Sunday (6th March). Among other things, young people led the congregation in prayers of thanksgiving and praise for the gift of our mothers. The service closed with the annual blessing and distribution of beautiful flowers for the mothers attending the Mothering Sunday service. The Monaco Christian community came out in good numbers to attend an ecumenical celebration of Anglican Evensong at Saint Paul's Church on Sunday 6th March. This annual service of ecumenical prayer in the season of Lent has rarely attracted as many as it did this year and Père Patrick Keppel, Ecumenical Office for the Diocese of Monaco, was quick to suggest that the service of Lenten Prayer return to Saint Paul's in 2017. Most impressively the enlarged Saint Paul's Church Choir sang beautifully despite the challenge of the somewhat unfamiliar music of traditional Anglican Choral Evensong. Many attending commented not only on the beauty of the choral singing but on the much improved sound of the newly refurbished organ. Click here for more photos & story.
An evening of Victorian Choral music
Choral Concert 19th March at 20_00
Rehearsals are well underway in preparation fora truly remarkable choral concert that takes place on 19 March at 20:00, the Eve of Palm Sunday this year.

Maestro Errol Girdlestone will conduct the Ristretto vocal ensemble in a choral programme that features John Stainer's stunning oratoriao "The Crucifixion". Stainer's much loved anthem "God so loved the world" will also be performed.  Click here or on the poster (right) for a video of the St Paul's Cathedral Choir singing "God so loved the world."

One of the features of Stainer's oratorio "The Crucifixion" is the placement of four very familiar hymns also of Stainer's composition. The Ristretto choral concert will begin with a hymn sing to warm up the audience so that we will be ready to join to sing of favourites, like the hymn, "All for Jesus."
Our newly refurbished organ at Saint Paul's Church will accompany the singing and will be featured in an organ solo. Also in the programme, the performance of Maestro Errol Girdlestone's original and beautiful choral composition "In Paradisium".
