The Dedication of New Cushions
Dedication of final cushion
The Congregation on Sunday 10 January took time to admire and dedicate new cushions for Saint Paul's Church. More than 30 cushions have recently been installed to replace worn and tattered cushions in the side aisle pews, choir loft and Baptistery. However, the main focus of our attention was the dedication of a beautiful new cushion completing the set of three for the Communion Rail in our church -- the first two cushions in the set were dedicated at Easter.

Henny Wickes (above right) lead the project to create the new cushions which took nearly three years to complete. Jeanini Ontivero and Claudine Xhrouet joined Henny in the creation of the new set of Communion Rail cushions and with Henny are members of "De Fil en Aiguille Monaco". This prestigious needlework guild was created at the request of Prince Rainer, 27 years ago, in order to complete several beautiful needlework projects that Princess Grace had undertaken but were left unfinished with her untimely death. Princess Caroline inherited her mother's passion for needlework and serves to this day, as the honorary president of the guild.

Comptesse Nina del Bove (above left) joined Henny Wickes for the dedication of the newest Communion Rail cushion. Nina created the original cushions in the 1950s and helped Henny copy the pattern used in the original set for the creation of the new cushions. We hope that these beautiful cushions will serve for yet another 50 years or more and become an important part of our material heritage at Saint Paul's Church.
Speaker from "A Rocha" Sunday
International A Rocha
Canon John Stott, writing on the work of A Rocha, affirms that "God has written two books, one called nature and the other called Scripture, through which he has revealed himself." International A Rocha is a Christian movement, founded by Father Peter Harris, and Anglican Vicar from Merseyside, that strives to study these two great books.
Jean-Franois Mouhot, Director of A Rocha France's environmental centre Les Courmettes (Tourrettes sur loup) will speak to the congregation at Saint Paul's Church this Sunday (17 January) to introduce our community to the mission of A Rocha France and its centre in Tourrettes sur loup.
Les Courmettes is a base for scientific studies, as well as a centre where volunteers, students, school children and local groups are welcomed and given the opportunity to grow in their understanding and commitment to God and to better understanding and appreciating His Creation. Recently Father Walter hosted a team of A Rocha scientists preparing a marine study of the effects of pollution in the Mediterranean on the endangered giant mussel "Pinna Nobilis".  It is hoped that a strong partnership between A Rocha Les Courmettes and the Anglican churches on the Riviera might develop over the years, one that is rooted  in Scripture and in the love of Nature.
