2016 MLS Chair Javier Cavazos
As September starts to come to its end we are reminded of all the different events associated with this month. Yesterday, according to the Old Farmers Almanac, marked the official start of the Autumnal Equinox, or Fall. Here in Fresno we are not quite ready to pack away the shorts and flip flops to switch over to our sweaters, but we should take this opportunity to reach out to our clients to give them the heads up on the wetter weather hopefully upon us soon. Time to inspect those roofs to make sure they are free of debris along with the gutters after catching all the wonderful colors of Fall.

The end of this month also marks the end of REALTORŪ Safety Month. We must remember to always be vigilant each day we are working, not just one month of the year. A special "Thank You!" to our fabulous Education Committee for bringing us our own local REALTORŪ Safety Fair.

September also brings us our last C.A.R. Meeting to be held in Long Beach. Your Director team heads out next week to attend meetings on your behalf. We will bring back information to share with all of you in the following Tuesday Morning Marketing Meetings. This C.A.R. Meeting is also the C.A.R. Expo, there are 3 days of marketing and technology classes available for REALTORSŪ to attend along with the several hundred real estate vendors in attendance at their booths. You can attend Sept 27-29th with the kickoff of Tech Tuesday. Register to attend at www.car.org.

I will finish up with some stats for August. For comparison I will use past figures from 2006, 2011, and of course 2015. Figures represent single family residential properties in Fresno County:

As you can see we are getting closer to our pricing high of 2006, the biggest difference though is the average sold price still has not caught up, there remains about a $60,000 difference. This also reflects in CAR's affordability index for Fresno which hovers at 50% as of Q2... the higher that sold price gets the less affordable our housing becomes. Biggest factor that remains is our available inventory, it continues to drive pricing upward. I hope you find these August stats useful. Continued Success to you!
