It's been a month since Google rolled out its mobile-friendly update. So what?

There was a lot of scrambling that took place in the weeks leading up to Mobilegeddon. Many feared they would be forever shunned from the Google kingdom on mobile devices. Rightfully so.

So far, it looks like Google's latest round of changes didn't have quite the initial impact we all anticipated. Certainly it affected many websites, but a comeback is definitely possible.

FAQsWhat is Mobilegeddon?
Dubbed Mobilegeddon, Google's recent algorithm change can negatively impact your mobile search rankings if your website doesn't use responsive design or other current optimization standards. It will not affect your search rankings when someone is searching on a desktop computer.

When did it take effect?
It officially rolled out on April 21, 2015.

How do I know if my website is mobile friendly?
You can enter your web address into Google's Mobile-Friendly Test.

What if my site is not mobile-friendly?
Even if your website took a hit, there is hope! Generally, you can regain lost visibility within a short period of time if you make your site mobile-friendly. Google is constantly scanning websites and updating its data.

What have we learned?

Search technology will always advance. While it's good to be aware of those advancements, it's even better to be aware of larger trends in digital marketing and changes in user habits.

And considering that more Google searches take place on mobile devices than on computers in the US, it's critical that you create a site that's mobile-friendly. It'll be better for your users, search rankings and your business. So don't put it off much longer!
