Recital Hair Instructions
Uniform hairstyles are required. All female students must wear their hair in a tight bun (with hairnet and bobby pins). No bangs, beads or snoods are allowed. Dancers with short hair must pull their hair away from the face and slick it down. A French braid is a good option for dancers with hair too short for a bun.

Undergarments For Recital I & II, a nude colored leotard/basic may be worn under costumes for comfort and added privacy during costume changes. Nude colored leotards are available for purchase at the academy, from dancewear stores or online merchants.

Dance Company - People's Choice Award
At the Applause Dance Competition our routine "Lost", danced by our Senior Jazz division and choreographed by Stacey Lewis, was awarded the People's Choice Award out of all routines during the Chicago regional competition. Each of the nine Federation of Dance Competition member competitions selects a People's Choice winner at each regional event. A video of each regional winner's routine is posted on the FDC website to be voted on by the public in June to determine the winner for each FDC member's competition. All nine People's Choice Award winners receive a cash prize of $1,000 to provide master classes, workshops, or choreography for its dancers. We are thrilled to have our routine selected and will let you know when the voting begins!

It is important that students continue their studies during the summer months. Placement for summer classes is determined by the students level during the 2012-13 school year. The summer session is also a great time to try something new!
