Job Hunting on LinkedIn - How to Leverage Mutual Connections
Job search tips and LinkedIn Protocol
Recently, I received this question from a client:
Q: I am busy on LinkedIn looking for jobs and networking. I have a question regarding protocol. One of my connections, has numerous connections in my industry. Whenever I look for jobs and look for corresponding connections, his name appears as the link to these 2nd degree connections. Is there a way to send my resume directly to these second connections, without disturbing this person? If so, how do I go about this?
Or alternatively, is it correct to ask him for the email addresses of these people so I can send them invitations? Is it appropriate to ask him to pass on my resume and cover letter? Is it better for me to ask him to make an email introduction? Or as an alternative, do I just call the directly and ask for the person's email address, in which case I would not be mentioning my connection's name at all? His name came up in connection with three jobs today alone. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Social Share Options on Constant Contact - Tutorial
Amplify your E-Newsletter Message with Social Sharing

Constant Contact offers a number of ways to encourage social activity and to facilitate social sharing. When using the Email tool to create an e-newsletter, a flyer, invitation or any other mailing, you have three different options;
- social share buttons you can add to the top of an email
- social icons you can include anywhere within the body of the mailing
- "Simple Share" options offered after you have scheduled something for issue.
Here is a quick explanation of each and how to use them to increase social sharing and amplification. 1. The social share buttons on top must be added in the header, in the same field where you insert the subjectline. For some reason, this cluster of buttons does not seem to 'save' with the template and even sometimes disappear after you send a draft so you need to double check to make sure they are there before you schedule your issue. Click here for the full tutorial on how to use the social share options on Constant Contact.

Optimizing Blog articles for SEO Keyword Placement
Over the next few months, Pam Ann Aungst of Pam Ann Marketing, has generously offered to share tips on how to optimize your blog articles for SEO. This month, the focus is on where to place your keywords and how Meta Tags can still help you attract the attention of your readers!
Putting keywords in the following places will hold more weight in the eyes of the search engines:
- Page titles (and blog article titles)
- Header tags (i.e. headlines) H1, H2, H3, etc.
- Image alt tags (i.e. text descriptors for images)
- Hyperlinked (a.k.a. "anchor") text
- Bolded text
- Near the top of the page
A Note About Keyword Placement in Meta Tags:
When speaking of keyword placement in SEO, a commonly raised topic is meta tags. Meta tags are behind-the-scenes code snippets that give information to search engines. The purpose of meta tags has evolved quite a bit over the years.
- The meta keywords tag is no longer used to deliver search engine results (because of keyword-stuffing abuse), but could still trigger a "black hat" red flag if used incorrectly.
- The meta description tag is used by search engines to display a short summary of a site below the site's link on the search engine results page. Using keywords in the meta description can assist in search engine performance simply because those keywords will appear in bold if they match the searcher's query, and that will draw the searcher's eyes to your result versus one without bolded text. See below for an example.
