2014 Mideast Talent ID Series

It's been a long series of nine races leading up to the championship in Detroit where draft-legal racing was introduced to Belle Isle.  As you cross the MacArthur Bridge and enter Belle Isle, you see the rubber still on the roads from the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix telling you this island is no stranger to fast circuit racing.  The weather was perfect and the Detroit Triathlon course was one that everyone enjoyed.

The inaugural Elite Development Race (EDR) saw some fast times where the Mideast Region had four juniors participate mixed with the older draft legal experienced athletes.  The F1 race had 24 youth athletes from the Mideast Region participate where quite a few experienced their first draft legal race.

In the spirit of his established EDR events in Clermont and Sarasota, Bill Burnett (with the help of Epic Races, Eva Solomon) has brought an EDR event to the Mideast that will surely grow from here.

 Mideast/Midwest Race Director Symposium
Eric Opdyke- REV3
2013 Keynote
The fourth annual regional Race Director Symposium is scheduled for December 6th at the Four Points by Sheraton in Downtown Chicago and will include keynote presentations from
Karen Smyers - USAT Hall-of-Famer, Multiple World Champion and
Bill Burnett - Streamline Events, Race Director.

The symposium is a great opportunity for race directors to meet and network with peers across the Mideast and Midwest regions, engage with USA Triathlon personnel, speak one-on-one with various multisport vendors, and become informed on various issues and trends facing the multisport industry. We will be giving away some nice gifts in the spirit of the holiday season. There will also be a fun run option led by Karen Smyers on Sunday morning for those that are interested. Check our website for information and registration.

In keeping with YMCA values, the Oak Park Tri Team welcomes members of all ages and backgrounds.  Athletes as young as 12 train alongside athletes that are 60+. This incredible diversity extends to our abilities as well.  We compete at every level, from Sprint to full Ironman distances, and everything in-between. We have athletes that are brand new to the sport, and athletes who compete at the National level. READ MORE
