Youth and Juniors

June 8 - August 16, 2014

The Mideast Region Talent ID Series is designed to foster development of young athletes ages 13-19.  The series consists of nine independently produced triathlons throughout the Mideast Region.

Each event meets a set of criteria ensuring the race is optimized for those new to the sport as well as those who wish to compete against the best in the region. The main purpose of this Series is to encourage participation for young athletes, foster excitement in the Mideast Region, and ultimately develop competitors into the Olympic pipeline.

Download the TALENT ID SERIES FLYER for the series description including event locations, scoring, championship race details, and the cancellations/alterations policy. Any questions regarding the Mideast Region Talent ID Race Series can be directed to Mike Groaning, usatmideast@gmail.com
2014 Mideast Region Club Racing Series (MERCRS)

The Mideast Regional Council hosts the Club Racing Series every year from April to October to support USA Triathlon Clubs. This popular series brings clubs together for friendly competition while fostering team unity and recognition. In this issue, we recognize one of our newest clubs, Tri-LOCO

Tri-LOCO (Indianapolis, Indiana) is in its second full season and is gaining momentum fast. With a growing roster of over 60 members, Tri-LOCO is a group of triathletes of all ages and abilities. We're proud of our 8 All-Americans and 7 Ironman All-World athletes. But what makes Tri-LOCO truly special is the camaraderie and love for the sport among our members. We're a competitive group, but it's the desire to have a good time that has drawn so many new members. READ MORE

USA Triathlon Most Inspirational Comeback Award
Alice Farmer with Mideast Council member Todd Baldi.
The Mideast Region is proud to recognize and honor Alice Farmer from Chicago, Illinois. Alice won the 2013 USA Triathlon Most Inspirational Comeback Award. This award recognizes athletes who have shown exemplary contributions to the multisport community and have compelling and inspirational stories of overcoming hardship.

Alice Farmer is a pacer/mentor for Chicago Endurance Sports' running and triathlon programs. Known for her infectious positive and motivating attitude, Alice brings inspiration to all who cross her path. Diagnosed with cancer over 10 years ago, she began walking on recommendation from her doctor to help alleviate her condition. Her walking sessions quickly became running sessions and she has not looked back since. Despite acquiring other forms of cancer throughout
the past ten years, she has competed in 60+ marathons, multiple ultra-marathons, and triathlons. Last year she completed her first half Ironman 70.3 at Racine, and her plans include Ironman Wisconsin 2015. READ MORE about this athlete's amazing and inspiring story.
