Welcome |
Welcome to the Southwest Region's quarterly newsletter.
Dear Athlete,
It's that time of year where everyone in the triathlon community is in the thick of it -- from athletes to race directors, coaches to tri clubs -- we are all busy training, racing and enjoy the summer! It's a great time to be a part of this awesome sport!
The Southwest Regional Council has really been enjoying meeting lots of our members as we continue our program of membership rallies at some of our regions' races. It is great to get out and meet the membership and answer questions and concerns and let you know what the regional council does for our members.
Remember, we are here to represent you and take your thoughts and concerns to the national organization. Please let us know what we can do to make your triathlon summer the best yet!
Finally, I have a question for you...are you on Facebook? (Heck my 78-year-old mother is on Facebook, so I bet you are there also.) Bigger question: have you liked the Southwest region page? If you haven't, take a moment to like us now and stay in the loop on what's going on in our region!
Warm regards,
Charles Johanson

USAT Official Certification / Recertification Clinics
| Regional Officials Coordinator J. Ritterbeck has been busy helping individuals become certified or recertified as USAT Officials. USAT officials help ensure safety and fair play through the enforcement of USA Triathlon rules.
So far this year, several clinics have taken place including an informal clinic at the Collegiate Triathlon National Championship in Tempe, AZ which taught veteran officials about the roles they serve in draft-legal events. At the Wildflower triathlon at San Antonio Lake, USAT head official, Charlie Crawford certified one new CAT5 official and re-certified six other officials. At the ITU World Triathlon in San Diego and the Auburn Triathlons, each event saw one new official certified and an official re-certified.
The next opportunity for current officials to get re-certified and for aspiring officials to learn the ropes of officiating will be at the California Triathlons in Pleasanton on June 28th. For more information, feel free to contact contact USAT-SW Region Officials Coordinator J. Ritterbeck with questions.
Information regarding upcoming clinics is being continually updated on the USAT-SW Region website. Please surf on by to get the latest information.
